53' trailers are not legal in NYC or 4 of the 5 bouroghs. The only legal route is 95 from Westchester/Bronx to 695 to 295 over Throgs Neck to 495.

[h=2]New York City Truck Route Map[/h]
DOT publishes a full color, double-sided map featuring the City's comprehensive Truck Route Network overlaid on top of the entire arterial street network, making it easier for drivers to locate specific streets and intersections. The map also contains helpful information on truck route signage, weight limits and dimensions, overweight/overdimensional permitting and truck related violations as well as City, regional and state truck-related resources.Download the 2011-2012 New York City Truck Route Map (pdf)Order copies through the mail

Truck route map does not mean 53 footers are legal. Look at size and weight restrictions.

Mark have the 720 and has worked pretty good since got it last year. But recently have had problem with acquiring satellites. Especially in the southern states. Seems this started after doing the last updates. Maybe this is just a matter of timing don't know. It sometimes takes as long as a hundred miles to find them.
It will show seeing them but only uses maybe one or two. It is sitting the same place since got it. On the dash. I have tried holding outside and completely away from truck. No matter where I put it takes forever to locate signal. Nothing as changed in truck since I purchased the unit.
I have since problem started placed a cheap GPS along side of it and it acquires signal within seconds. It seems if I don't turn unit off at night works ok. But when driving thru MS, LA, AL it will loose it for a while then come back later.

might add just to cover all bases I did order an external antenna for it but haven't gotten home to get it yet. -
Southern states should be a better signal in relationship to the satellites.
Make sure you did not put something new on the dash such as a wireless receiver that you can buy to connect to the radio. This will interfere sometimes with the GPS receiver.
Holding outside should take it away from all that. Next time, hit the reset button, then power off/on and see what happens. It could be the hardware GPS receiver is weak and you may need an RMA to replace it.

Interesting issue.... the 720 apparently inserts route changes at the spur of the moment. Example, routed Indianapolis to Dallas via Little Rock. At Little Rock, the route ran I40-I30. However, as I approched I440, the device inserted I440 into the route and posted a segment change onto I440. This segment was not part of tbe orginal routing calculation. I've seen this before but really didn't take much notice of it except in passing.

I disabled the Hills and Sharp Curve warnings.
But I am still getting Curve Warnings.
Wouldn't be bad if they were actuallyvSharp Curves -
Thanks,

If on, it knows the general route, but will give you faster routing for x miles. With it off, it will calculate the entire route.
Or you could have routed somehow towards I-440 causing a recalc.
Thanks,
Markk7tkr Thanks this.
