Just bought a 720. Should I hold off on the traffic receiver then?

You talk like a rep. I was told May or June by your customer service people. I bought a new tnd720 based on that info (first gps). Is that still operative?

    Thanks

Not a Rep. I am tech support. I am in the mist of doing heavy testing on the final version for the 520 and if my answers were a little slim then forgive me. I try to answer without going into tons of details. What was mentioned is basically the differences.

    May/June for ???

Not sure what the question is here.

    Thanks,
    Mark

The traffic receiver for the 720 will have an issue of going to "sleep" if left in a searching mode. The only way to "wake" it up is to remove the power from the traffic receiver. This is way RM is going towards an internet based traffic.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I did see the sleep issue...I was just hoping you could tell me when this will happen so I can avoid buying the 80$ receiver.

When it will go to sleep?

As noted in prior posts, until something is made public by RM, I cannot give you information. The 520 has been made public, with the internet traffic as a feature, but no release date.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Okee Dokee. I think the thing to do here is just to use my iPhone until the next release or update or shift to internet based traffic so I am not out $80.

If you called CS and they mentioned a possible release date then this is something that is not set in stone. I don't give out information unless I know for sure. This way you will not be lead wrong or come back later and hold me to a date.

I can mention they are going to internet based traffic. When, I don't know. It has not hit QA yet for testing.

If I did not give you a clear date, then I am sorry. I have no clear date or possible date.

You asked about the traffic receiver and I mentioned the issue with it. It will work, you just have to unplug it and plug it back in when it goes to "sleep".

    thanks,
    mark
