So maybe the best way to prevent the "sleep disorder" on the traffic receiver is to only use it periodically and shut it off when done with it?

The traffic receiver plugs inline between the power source and the TND. There is no way to turn it off unless you unplug it from the power source. When you are in a area it does not see a signal it will go into search mode. Normally 30 minutes in testing without a valid signal it will go to "sleep".

Unplugging and plugging in when driving can be dangerous.

    Thanks,
    mark

OK...I finally get it. I went back and searched the term "traffic receiver" in this thread and educated myself on the issue. I am just getting onto this particular thread since I just bought the 720 and will get it when I get home today. I was looking at the traffic receiver as a cool option and noted that this issue has been pointed out now for about 6 months with the acknowlegdement that RM knows and is working on a solution...hence the shift to internet based traffic. Sounds like the receiver is going the way of the Do Do bird. :)

There is no set release date as of yet for traffic. Pricing has not been determined as of yet.

    Thanks,

Satelite errors are possible. Or else the Military is putting that error in on you. Not uncommon to see at times.
