Correct me if I'm wrong, but this unit will always add an address to a saved location,so if you are in the middle of nowhere it wont know where you are and will pick the nearest address that it knows of,could be miles away as the unit works off of streets numbers towns cities etc.

Precisely, on my TomTom 720 you could add a poi from a radio button aptly named "My Location" and it would save wherever my truck was sitting. Had I known you could not do this with RM 720 I don't think I would have purchased it. A lot of my customers locations don't really have a "physical address". Even some that I know do, the unit will try to enter an address and/or town that is miles away, very annoying and not accurate.

This unit was never meant to b an off road unit,as far as I know every street will have a house number,if it's in the data bank,so if your customer is not on a known street it will not know it. You would need a gps that works on lat&long to find your location wherever you are. I have tried to load a location by lat&long but could not find a way to do that.

One thing you can do. Go to Google maps, then drop a push pin on where you are. Right click and write down the GPS coordinates. Transcribe those into the TND 720 and save that location. I did that 2 days ago with a location out in the boonies. It's a pain, but it is a work around.

It's not so much "off road", but....as I said I was at a customer location the other day and tried "save this location", it came up with an address 8 miles from where I was at. That customer has a "known" address, but it still tried to save a "wrong" address. Again had I known this was a "limitation" of the RM720< I would not have purchased it. I am going to try the Tom Tom truck unit next. Thanks jm for deciphering what my "issue" was, tho.

I have had the same problem but I think this would b a NavTec issue, other than that I have had no real issues with my 720 or my wife's updated 700

Prior versions saved to the closest Paved road in the state listings. If you hit save location it will save by Lat/Long. It may be some off when on paved roads, but on unpaved roads it is more narrowed down.

Rand is working on saving Location to be the location you are physically at.

    Thanks,
    Mark

PM me the location. I will have the GIS look at it. If you could pinpoint it on GoogleMaps where the actual location is and what it saved in your address book.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Why not click on the map screen, zoom out till you are in the area you need to be. Zoom in and move the map around till you find you location. Then at the bottom it should show "route to here".

    Thanks,
    Mark
