FYI it was working after the format and reload. Then i tried the map update again and it froze the computer and it rebooted mid update. Now the GPS hangs at the splash screen and not recognized my the computer.

New issue-
When the 520 looses contact with my hotshot for whatever reason, it will not reconnect without having to reboot the device. It wants the WAP pass code but won't accept it until rebooted.

Tried it and it did not help it's seems to be about a 3/4 of an inch in on the right side of the screen about half way up. i'm gonna pm you my phone number hopefully you can call me and see what to try next
Mark Kling Thanks this. -
Until the TND does a full boot, it will not build the naviinfo file correctly which the Dock needs to read.
Map updates are suggested on a High Speed Network. It is about a 3.5 gb download.
Let me know if you are still having issues.

Friendly hint: Don't Completely trust the routing. My 520 gave me the fastest route from La Grande, OR to Lewiston, ID. OR 82 - OR 3 - WA 129.... which I now know to be Rattlesnake Pass..... Lot's of fun in condo cab with a 53 foot trailer. Might consider putting a warning on that type of road in the GPS for the idiots (like me).
Before folks start screaming, I did glance at the map in the atlas 1st, but forgot to look up restrictions in the front of the book. 60 ft length restriction on singles or 75' on doubles... duh.Mark Kling Thanks this. -
