Dop on GPS should be less than 2. Normally it is less than 1.

Is there a way you could send me that 720 so I can test here?

    Thanks,
    mark

On the map screen, bottom row, towards the right. Click on the compass and you can set the direction heading. Note - if you zoom out pass 10 miles it will change to North up. You can also check in main screen/preferences/map/map auto zoom. If you have it set to "on,auto scale" then if you have a long trip it will stay zoomed out and if you zoom in, then it will time out and zoom out again.

    Street - about 5 -10 miles
    City - about 15-20 miles
    County - about 30 miles

    Thanks,
    Mark

hey silver shadow,, thanks for your reply. I couldn't calibrate and I don't even remember that the TDN 500 had this option,, I went into prefrences and then try to hit "device" wouldn't let me do this,, screen is froze up. this morning I called rand mc nally technical support, the man on the phone told me, that with this problem the touchscreen is done, and it cant be repaired,, on my request why ?? "cause we don't have no more spareparts for this model,, it is too old"....... too old ?? I bought the TND 500 ins spring 2011,,, it lasted me for 15 month of trucking,, I dint use it for the last 15 month cause I wasn't driving... not a very long time those GPS last,, same experience I had with garmin where the car GPS lasted little over a year,, I had two garmins,, now 1 rand mc nally,, these 3 gps all together lasted each a little over a year.. it seems like,, GPS is a buy, use it,, when it breaks throw it away product.. on my request to the technician, how long a life span of a rand mc nally GPS is,, he answered 3 to 4 years... I don't know,, just a lot of money down the drain ... so they make me an offer to buy a TND 510 factory refurbished unit for 159.99 plus tax , shipping free.... so I don't know what to do,, I liked the TND 500 when it worked.. on the other side I don't want to honor their lousy customer service (2 year old unit and they don't have no spare parts,,, common :( ?? ) . but it probably comes at the end to this,, all producers of GPS pretty much the same,,, cheap "made in china",, last for a while and ends up in the garbage way to soon,,, what a waste of resources and money....probably will get a refurbished unit,, what else can I do ??

I don't look at the miles on my 720 so I don't know if mine is losing them.

As far as them interfering with each other why does it not bother my 510? And why is it so random and almost always in a bad rain storm or bad overcast? I can go several weeks without losing the satellites. I guess what I'm saying is that its so random how are you going to recreate the issue?

If I am to send it in I'd be without for a few weeks. I guess I could dig my 510 back out when I get home. But it'd be 3weeks before I'm home again to send it in if I bother. Pm me your address and ill let you know that I'm shipping before I do.
