When it looses connection, what kind of signal does your hotspot have? 1x, 3g, 4g? What is the model of the hotspot?

    Thanks,
    Mark

When I turned the 720 on Wednesday morning it connected to the hot spot but the traffic and weather overlays will not display. I called RM support and they think it is on their server, is any one else having this problem.

On the weather page, did it show the local weather?

    Still have this issue?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Is the traffic everywhere only usable if I have a hotspot? How is it that I had a cheaper gps that was able to give me traffic conditions and alternate routes (at least in major cities) without me having to connect to a hotspot but my RM 720 will not?

They used a recieving antenna either in the unit or usually in the powercable. My car garmin its in the power plug. I use the rm in line traffic antenna. It only works with cities that have clear channel company traffic being broadcast. Rm changed with the 720 and 520 because they could not figure out why the traffic reciever went to sleep after 30 minutes if no signal and would not wake when you got to a city with signal. I just unplug my power cord from the 12v outlet and replug it when I get near a city. It doesn't seem to do it as often since the last update. I'm not wasting my band width from my phone on the weather and traffic on my 720. I have a weather app on my phone, weather band on stereo and windows on my truck. I'm also not so lazy as to reset my traffic reviever because RM is either to lazy or have bad programmers and can't figure out their traffic issue after having a lot of us spend $60-$80 on their traffic antenna. Put that money to use other than lining your pockets. Garmin has had this down for 5-7 years or more.

Hey guys, I've been looking around the internet for a few hours now, and I can't seem to find out how to do a complete factory reset on my TND 720.

I plugged it into my PC yesterday to do the update that gives the traffic and all the new features. Something went wrong, and the update failed. Now, the unit is stuck on the Rand McNally startup screen and won't go any further. Pushing the reset button does reset it, but it just goes back to the startup screen and stays there. I tried plugging it into my PC, and it doesn't do anything for about 60 seconds, and then Windows crashes with a blue screen.

Is it possible to download the software to reinstall it from an SD card or something? This is my most important tool when managing my time, and I go back out on the road Wednesday morning. Is there anything I can do at all, or am I pretty much screwed?

I wondered what the problem was, I had a Magellan but was given a RM 720, I guess if I wanted I could use my iphone as a hotspot but wonder if that will cost me $$$.
