Well I did the update and I found that when it's on the fastest route it takes me around the block and when I put it on the shorter route it takes me straight there. (Just did this for a customer that I am going to tomorrow) short route takes me the way directions given tell me how to go fastest route takes me around the block, btw this customer is in pa.

The map update lifetime is like $90 bucks I have an issue with this for 2 reasons.

1st I originally bought my rand McNally for about $500 bucks, about 6 months later it took a crap on me, I traded this one out for another new one and again about 3 months later it crapped out, traded it out for a third time this time for a display case model and have had it ever since, not too sure how long these things are suppose to last but a buddy of mine has like 6 of these dum dums we call em (all rand McNally) and for some reason all his take a poop too.

2nd since I am not sure how much longer it will last doesnt seem logical to pay for unlimited maps when I may need to buy a new one pretty sure the one I have now is about 2 years old, battery in it is just about dead because I have to have it on the charger all the time. When I buy a new one the unlimited maps will come with it.

Anyways thanks foryour help and time in this issue.

If it was a 710, then the issue was the power cord. This has been talked about in prior posts. (your friend).

The price you paid tells me this is a older model. Probably a C or E model. LTM's are not available for these models.

The maps I am running are not available for production yet. Still in testing.

I am glad you found that the shortest route is a better route. You have to play with the settings to determine the routes sometimes.

    Thanks,
    Mark

No we both shyed away from the 710 models, as we felt that even though having a big screen was great we felt that would be still to bright while driving at night. we both have the 510 models, when I did the update it does allow me to update to unlimited maps.

the problem we or my friend is having with the 510 is they crash and won't turn back on, yes he has done reset time and time again but for some reason when they do will work for short time and crash.

I would make sure you have a solid connection to the DC source.

As far as the battery... have not seen a 510 with a battery issue... most likely the charging ckt.

    PM me..

    Thanks,
    mark

Preferences/General/my custom POI - manage Custom POI, check here... see if one of the Custom POI's has a green dot.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Oh that could be too. I just seen they seem to always show up near a big city but the red lights are normally in big cities so that makes sense.

Probably on the last update it added the Custom POI for Red Light Camera's... Follow the path in post 7377 and see if it is there. You can change the settings by clicking on it or delete it by clicking on the "X".

    Thanks,
    Mark
