My issues have been resolved by Ray Allen over at RM tech support.
The problem was that the Navigation.lic file was missing from the navi\user folder. It somehow got corrupted during the update (we're still not sure how). The unit would boot, but if you tried to map a route it would give you the error I posted earlier. You can duplicate this issue by removing the file I mentioned. He emailed me the missing file and now it works perfectly again. I like the new stuff in the upgrade.

    _____________________________________________________________

Not corrupted, I have been testing the issue and found a issue with the movement of the license file..

If you look under your Navi\bin folder you may see a navigation.lic file,, delete it out of the navi\bin folder.

The correct placement is the Navi\user folder.

You can move it to the Navi\user folder if it was in the Navi/bin folder, but you must do the update again to get the current license.

    Thanks,
    mark

Interesting take mark....this was definiteley not one of your testers units. It was shrink wrapped & sealed, had all the protectors inside including the papers. I made sure the seller had good feed back as well.
I checked the various "authorized" sellers & couldn't find a good price as they were all within a few dollars....appeared to be a little price fixing, even Amazon(the only one I would buy from)was the same as the others. So I did what I normaly do......E-Bay. Chose a power seller with excellent feedback & bid. Got it for about $100 less. The unit was new, in the box & unopened. No hanging wires or bent brackets. After updating all that I put the unit to work. Less than a month later it dies. Not a good recommendation for RMN products, but hey....the proof is in what the company does afterward isn't it. If they stand behind their product ....great, if not, well that tells you everything you need to know about a company. I will be printing the return package this weekend & let you, & anyone else thats interested, know how it goes as to what RMN does. I have purchased a lot of high priced items on ebay & a couple had warranty repairs, never a problem. For what its worth Mark Rand McNally was the only name on the box. Take care.

I did not say it was a tester's unit. But, things do get stolen from time to time even from store inventory and it does not take much to wrap a box again.

Rand offers a suggested retail price. If everyone else is listing within a few dollars and they are $100 less, seems to me the profit margin is gone. That alone would raise an eyebrow. If the seller is such a power seller, does he not stand behind his sales?

It seems you are missing the big picture... Rand offers to stand behind the warranty if you buy from an authorized dealer. If someone at a truck stop offered to sell their unit and went and had it wrapped, would you expect the same service?

Rand looks at it this way. Once you buy from an authorized dealer, the product has basically gone from the warehouse to the dealer to you.

Buyer beware if someone offers something for $100 less than anyone else. Again, have you contacted the seller?

    Thanks,
    Mark

On the Rand McNally website it shows the PC and the Mac update process, with the PC using the Dock software and the Mac using a more bare bones solution. For the PC Dock software it has an option to download construction updates. If I used a Mac to update a TND would it download construction info when it is updated?

That is a good question... :biggrin_255:

My Mac has a Rosetta issue and as such I am unable to verify at this time. I will place an question back to Rand. Unless I can verify an unknown I do not wish to give you a false answer.

BTW - if you do the Mac update via the link on the Rand Page, contact me for the newer NaviMaps.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Now you're splitting hairs Mark. It was an auction not a sale. Maybe he lost, maybe he broke even I don't know. At my age I well know when an electronics package has been re-wrapped....its not rocket science. As far as possibly being stolen I can provide the serial number & the sellers location if you wish to call in law enforcement & have him raided. This week Loves is offering these units for $50 off.....maybe their running a hot TND ring. Of course I've already purchased mine & if not I don't buy electronics from Loves(bad experience). As far as standing behind an item, I'm more concerned about a manufacturer than a private seller, Particularly when the terms of warranty are not plainly spelled out until after you purchase the item. Anyway as I said I'll print the label, send it in & we'll go from there.
