Let's include Canadien trucks as well!

I know this comment will get me a lot of heat but so be it.

We bring their freight to the border and let them take it to the final destination and they can do the same with ours.

I think we would create more jobs on both sides of the border if we all stayed on our respective sides. SCREW NAFTA!!!

With Canada, things are more fair. We buy their stuff, they buy our stuff. With Mexico, we give them everything for free. There is no fair trade off.

Canadians make as much or more than we do. At least it's more balanced and you don't see many Canadians jumping a fence or tunneling under one to get in. Then having babies in order to stay.

I have no problem with the canadian drivers,at least you can understand them and have a conversation with them and not worry about getting robbed.

Thats true. Canada MOT ( DOT ) is on the game with truck inspections so they are safe on the road. I have no problem with Canada. Mexico... I used to live in San Antonio TX and I have been down to the border to many times to count.... I would not want ANY of those #### trucks or drivers around me or anyone else family..... They are rolling death traps. I just want to know when we will build the wall

They drive crazy, too. Try that Laredo area sometime and you'll know what I mean. There is no road courtesy at all. You shove your way through or you don't get through.

and what about those #### airplanes--shouldnt we build an island -so the planes can land their--drop off the passengers and another one come and take them to their destination???
    wouldnt that be good progress??
and those darn birds migrating---there should be a law against it---make them poop in their own country

You might have missed my point. I believe that closing all borders would actually stimulate the economy on both sides.
It would necessitate hiring more drivers, building more warehouses, buying more trucks, basically creating more opportunities for more jobs by forcing freight to be cross docked or dropped and hooked, just like we used to do along the southern border.

Additionally, the issues of the language barrier, unsafe equipment, poorly qualified drivers, etc may be lessened as a result of this.

I don't think that restricting cross border crossings will create more jobs unless there is more freight. It might create some jobs for those loading or unloading trucks. I don't see it creating more driving jobs.

NAFTA is mainly a loser for the U.S., at least as far as Mexico is concerned. Canada is more equitable in the way they do business. It is a very one sided agreement with Mexico. They got everything they wanted and we got the shaft.

Some of the Mexican carriers are actually owned by U.S. carriers. Celedon was on of the first American carriers to set up shop across the border. I believe that JB Hunt and U.S. Xpress also have operations across the border. Mexicans are already driving in this country. I have also seen the trucks on the southern border. I have often wondered if they would make it back across the border or could stop abruptly, if necessary.

Mexico is a country that has widespread corruption. Everyone has their hand out for a payoff. Come to think of it, it is sounding more like the U.S.

but i think building all that infrastructure would result in a very high price for product that is all ready high enough
the isolisation program already has been tried before-didnt work so good
not that i always agree but it has been proven that immigration from other countries boosts employment and helps the economy
i wouldnt get to worried about the mexican trucks--the last go around--not that many companies wanted to participate anyways
the mexican companies that a person might be worried about(as in taking away american jobs) are the ones owned by american companies such as celedon et al
many mexicans were grandfathered in as well and have been driving for years in the US
eventually--way down the road i am sure north america will be the same as eaurope with borders basically gone ---- although i hope i am long dead before that happens
