Not a bad idea, but I'd rather approach the used truck dealer and offer to manage everything myself.

I'd like just once to hear a company say that they were trading in their recently bought fast computers for some older slower, but cheaper computers. Think how much energy could be saved going back to those simpler processors!

Somehow it is OK to SPEND large amounts of money to save a few nanoseconds for a desk jockey to play solitaire faster, or download You-tube quicker, but money can NOT be spent to save a driver an hour a day!

With many companies I suspect you are correct. However, when are YOU going to figure it out?????

COMPANY DRIVERS DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE COMPANY OR THEIR EQUIPMENT!!!!!

It's all about making as much money for themselves not the company DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!

There are exceptions but they are few and far between and the attitudes expressed in this thread pretty much bear this out.

Wrong! I do care about the COMPANY truck I drive. It is what makes me my money so I do take care of it and make sure it is in tip top shape. I would honestly buy my company truck if I could. I wax it and polish it and all the chrome and alluminum on it. I treat it as it were my own and it only goes 62MPH and in certain gears it as a rev limit also.

O yeah it gets 6.00-6.5 avg out depending on where I am running and what I am pulling.

Not wrong, you just missed the "there are exceptions" part of my post. There ARE drivers with the right attitude such as that you posted, brsims seems to be another "My current truck isn't governed, but I still keep it around 62-63mph. Ain't me buying the fuel, but if I save I might be worthy of a raise one day..." they are just in the minority. The sad reality is that truly GOOD drivers for hire are hard to find. Most GOOD ones aren't available because they are running their own iron.

Boy would THAT be an eye opener for many. Better yet, buy a half dozen trucks and find someone to put in the seats. Reminds me of something my brother said years ago. He was always perturbed when a large company would invest often HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars to buy a machine that would replace a few employees. He thought it was pretty ignorant of management when they could employ PEOPLE rather than a machine. Then he went into business for himself and had to start hiring people. Didn't take long to realize why companies want as few employees as possible. People are a major PITA.

Sorry I did over look that. Yes I will for sure be an O/O and I will take care of my truck better then most. It may be a company truck but I take a lot of pride in it.

One of the main reasons for me to buy my own truck is to deal with less people, so no thanks on the fleet.
