I decided to go with Western Express, despite all the bad rumors and stories about them, I started Orientation in Richmond Va, got through all my orientation, started training, completed my 70 hrs with 72.3 hrs before 2 weeks were up, completed close to 7500 miles running as a team with my trainer, I completed my training a week ago today, I had to bring my pickup truck home to my wife so she would have a vehicle, I made it clear that as soon as they were able to seat me in my own truck, I would come back to Richmond to pick it up, they would not have to find one closer to me in NC, So here I sat, one week after training, and still waiting for a truck.
And i have seen people that can't even back a truck up, finish training 2 days ago, and already on the road asking people for advice on backing up. What do I have to do to get them to seat me? I have called my recruiter and seating manager, neither has returned my call, I can drive the truck, I can back up the truck, I am alert and pay attention, stay off my phone, and know how to run my clock and make my miles, but yet they choose to seat someone that can't even back up and drive safely when I finished my training several days before them. Maybe i am just venting, lol It just ticks me off because I am trying to do this for all the right reasons, support my family, work, be a safe driver, etc. and another thing is, the money is important, but it's not the most important thing to me, I just want to do what I enjoy doing, Most of the drivers at western only want to control everything and make it all about money, no matter how dangerous they are on the roads, that's with a lot of companies though.
And what ever happened to truck driving being a brotherhood where truckers helped truckers? had conversations and met other people on cb radios?
Okay, I'm sorry, i'll cut this rant short, I'm just pissed off right now because i'm tired of sitting and waiting.

Sounds like you should get over to the terminal. They are giving trucks to the folks that are there and ready to pickup a load. Not to just hold one for you while they are missing out on contracts.

No communication from the start like this is a red flag in my book.

Put yourself in the DMs shoes.

You have 2 guys available to be assigned a truck - one is at the yard and one is at the house 100 miles away. You have 1 truck available, who is getting assigned the truck?

There are lots of reasons that Western is a bad company. This is not one of them.

You have to bear in mind that Western Express is a starter company (always has been) and usually they want drivers that are preferably close (or at) the terminal ready to go.

You need to get to Nashville where they are headquartered. See if they can get you to Nashville. Also, when I started there, van drivers had a longer wait than flatbed drivers. That could be, but not necessarily why you're being delayed.

Indeed. When I started with them, they sent me home via Greyhound for Christmas because at the time they didn’t have enough trucks to go around for drivers that finished orientation. I went back to Nashville via Greyhound and they had a truck for me ready to go,just in time to do my inaugural solo run for New Year’s Eve/Day,2014/2015.

Good luck to you! God bless you and your family!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.

During that teaming with trainer for 7,500 miles...what's the best check you saw in a weeks time at Welfare?

You are under their "training" contract now for 90 days or pay $2,500. And you say "phone calls and messages go unanswered"?
