As the title says, I bought a different truck. What all can be swapped over from the old truck to the new one tax wise and filings etc? I know the apportioned registration will be refunded and applied to the new one. What about IFTA, 2290, etc? Do I lose all of the money I paid for those or will they refund the "unused" portion as well? Do I even need to do anything different with IFTA? Those of you who have been through this what were your experiences? I have searched and found no solid answers to most of this. I am located in Texas with interstate authority.
Swapped trucks, what can be swapped over and what has to be refiled?

The 2290 stays with the truck, so that's not refundable. Really the only thing refundable is the apportionment. You don't need to do anything with IFTA, just keep reporting it as usual. Just make sure the new truck is in service and the old one is taken out of service.

roshea Thanks this.

The 2290 used to stay with the truck, that changed several years ago and is refundable, I do not think it just be swapped to another truck.

Maybe I was thinking about when you buy a new truck, depending on when you buy it, you don't have to pay for the whole year, it is prorated now.
