depending where I am and going will depend where I clean my trailer out, i never however do it in a fuel island and when I do use the fuel islands to run and go pee or get something to drink I always pull up in front of the fuel island so someone can still come in behind me if it happens to get busy during the 5 minutes im inside.
I have used turn outs on roads, rest stops etc. I sweep everything to the back and then pick up any of the larger pieces and stick in a bag and then sweep the dirt to the ground. The other day I was at a Walmart in Colorado and my company told me to deadhead to Lancaster Tx since I had a brand new trailer and they needed it for another driver for a food shipment and they told me I had to have it nice and clean, well I cleaned it right there at the terminal.
There is always somewhere you can park to do it, just be considerate to others around you, dont sweep trash to the ground where others have to walk or drive through it etc. As for the fuel pump that is not a place even if your the only truck, it will just make others think its ok too and before we know it fuel islands will become trash cans.
Sweeping trailer out at fuel island when traffic is low?

you mean the driver that watered his tires while fueling
was actually being considerate? -
I still don't see the problem if there is no one else at the fuel island.
volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
next you will see 10 drivers at the pumps sweeping trailers, hand washing their truck, checking tires and airing them up yada yada yada and then you will be sitting behind them waiting for a hour thinking oh this is what they were talking about....

if you have to ask
you will hate the answer basically -
thats with most questions lol
Most of the time i have a question that seems stupid to me I just talk to another driver i know or post on the board with fellow company drivers who attack less -

If a fuel isle was also meant for sweeping out trailers then the sign would say fuel/sweep station.I don't care if you're the only one there the point is you do not sweep out at the fuel island. The 9 yrs driving,I have never seen anyone sweeping out at the pumps.
