The first thing that comes to mind is no matter how much I like to do things while fueling at night, I always seem to get there when all the lanes are empty and by the time I am fueled and ready to do something else, the lanes fill up and I have someone behind me waiting to get to the pumps.
BUT I always wondered why the rush, I always cleaned the truck/box from the load at the place I delivered at, this way when I hit the truck stop, I parked and went to bed. No need todriverdriver Thanks this. -
Wow, gotta love the attacks. Dude posts a question in the "Questions from New Drivers" and gets told how stupid He is and is attacked and then told how unprofessional He is by so-called Professionals. He is asking a question that is important to him, in "Questions from New Drivers". If you're not going to help him, then don't help him. There's no need to be complete #####(self censored) about it if you have nothing to contribute.
I personally don't think it's a good Idea. After unloading you should always walk the inside of the trailer to check for damage that the Unloading or loading crew may have done to the trailer and also check the roof to see if one of the forklift guys hit it while raising a Pallet off of another stack. Also to check the floor boards for any damage . And most of the time Consignees will let you sweep it out while still in their dock and you have a trash can and sometimes even a broom right there.
I always carried Broom, dust pan and heavy duty trash bags in case a Customer wanted out of there pronto or wouldn't allow anybody on their dock. -

"anyone who has to ask an idiot question like this will never make it or be one of those idiots that sleeps on the fuel island because he does not know how to park or has know clue what ity means to have respect for his fellow drivers no matter what time day or night fuel islands are for one thing fueling you lazy fat idiots"
Sounds like an attack to me. I don't see any problem sweeping out your trailer if there is nobody around so long as you move if someone pulls in behind you to fuel. When they're done fueling be ready to roll. What gives us truckers a bad name are the truckers who ##### and moan about every little thing! Ever been in a truck stop lounge? It's full of whiny truckersc64basic Thanks this. -
It was a good, question and he gets pounded on by people who obviously didnt even bother to read his whole post.
I honestly dont care what the truck in front of me is doing. I'm not going to worry about him until I'm done fueling. If I havent seen him come back to his trucl by the time I'm done, I'm walking to the fuel desk to get my paperwork while keeping an eye out for in case he comes back and I need to run out and pull forward. If he hasnt shown up by the time Im done, then I have him paged. It's not that big of a deal. Especially with the mandatory break if you want to keep driving after 8 hours. I dunno -
no it was not an attack far from I,m just tired of idiot drivers not having respect for fellow drivers and the image of the industry and sweeping out on fuel island is very unprofessional and I have been out here off and on since 1989 and I have absolutely never parked on fuel island just to run in to use restroom I have however when fueling pulled up and went in to use restroom after if I,m not fueling I will not even pull through fuel unless it is the only way to parking area which does happen at some smaller mom&pop truck stops

OK....I'm 5'6", but I always wanted to be 5'7"! -
I always swept my trailer out at the last customers dock. It's common practice. That's why there are trash cans there.
If I happen to pick up an empty that some sorry driver didn't clean out I sweep it out right there and put it in a trash bag I carry. Yes you can carry trash bags.
A driver has all kinds of choices. Does it bother someone? Don't do it!
Since you are asking I see you are concerned. But a truck stop isn't the only place in the world that you everything short of driving.
