wow, people staying with swift more than a year, sounds great, question, will swift be replaceing all the volvo's with prostar's, its a toss up between millis transfer of 800 tractors verse big swift of 16,000 tractors, i like to stay more than a few years so its kinda hard to deside between the two wright now, thanks

I don't see Volvos being entirely phased out. I understand there have been some issues with the Internationals. I've heard Swift is leaning away from Prostars, but that could be just rumor. I have seen Cascadias being issued to teams and mentors, too. When you're replacing over 3,000 trucks each year, you kind of have to keep your options open.

it will be interesting to see which model they favor, hopefully its not just the price tag, the mechanics will now which trucks hold up better

It usually comes down to the deal they can make. Back in 2005 or so...maybe 2006, Swift made a deal on Volvos. The reason they bought 5000 volvos? They were awarded the contract to haul new Volvos to dealers etc. You know...piggybacks. Well, that is a highly skilled proposition and after a year or so of damaged new trucks by unskilled drivers, that party was over.

Perhaps you'd like to start your own thread with your own topic instead of attempting to drag this one off topic and insult others.

    Just a suggestion.

Sometimes you Swift drivers are a little over sensitive! I understand though. You do take a lot of ribbing from other drivers. I make it a point to come to your defense when I hear senseless and stupid Swift jokes.
I for one think Swifts equipment is always up to date and way better than many trucking companies. Also, when you have 16000 trucks and drivers there will be more mishaps involving those 16000 trucks and drivers which make it appear to be an unpropotionate Swift involvement.
I am an owner operator...not a Swift employee or leasee.
I would much rather have a Swift truck on the highway than some guy in his ragged out old truck that thinks Swift drivers are inferior.

I went to the swift academy in Portland in early 2006. There was an instructor named Dave that worked there. Does anyone know where he is and maybe his last name? I'd really love to get back in contact with him. Thanks!

I went to San Antonio academy just over 5 years ago, still in a Snail Trail, but I do enjoy it.

I was a graduate of Millington, TN over six years ago now. My employment with Swift hasn't been continuous, but as you can see, I did come back eventually ;)

I've been seeing a lot of KW's come out.. are these just L/O and O/O.. Some have the swift logo and lettering which leads me to believe they are L/O tractors but there have been a lot of them lately.. Is swift really starting to push the L/O O/O to replace company trucks?
