Local school a 3 week deal? If it is longer like the one I went to with local testing? I vote for the local. Most 3 week schools barely teach you how to get the truck rolling. How do they handle the final test? Do they have 3rd party testers there?
Some schools are nothing but scheisters, and rip off artists. Several schools around here lost their testing priviledges.
My school was TN Tech. 6 weeks and we came out as a PTDI certified driver. If I had a better work history at the time I could have gone to Crete who pays higher than some other starter companies.
Does Swift have a school in your home state? -
no I'll have to go to SWIFT in Idaho(PTDI certified course offered)
-
If you can get schooling there and get your CDL+be PTDI certified? I would go elsewhere. That may or may not be for you. In the end it is your choice. -
Just a quick question. What are third party testers?

Other schools were "shadowed" by the DMV. They weren't testing their students properly. You are required XX amount of city, and highway driving. XX of right, and left turns, gear recovery, and other stuff. Plus your skills on the range.
When you test a student you have to give the time to the state of TN before hand. And you stick to that schedule.Spacecoast Thanks this. -
Hubby went thru swifts Lewiston academy. He was quite happy with it. The school in Lewiston seems to be one of the better ones from what I've read.

My third party tester in Tennessee was a Safety guy for Cooper Transportation. There were a couple of dozen folks there for testing, we did a walkaround PTI, just talking about what we would look at. Then left their yard, went out to the interstate, drove down a couple of exits, turned around, went back, a couple of city blocks, and parked. Only a straight-line back.
Now, this was in 1993. I am sure he is one of the reasons third-party testers are more regulated in Tennessee now. -
Did he get his lisence in Idaho or he came back to washington how was the process -
One of the trainers took the WA students to Spokane to test.
