Are our fuel cards approved to buy DEF at the pump yet? I know that 6 months ago, or so, they were not. Use to have to send a company advance request and hope someone approved it, or pay with your money and hope a reimbursement showed up on your check. Is this still the procedure? I sure do hope I can get DEF at the pump with my comdata card now. Thanks in advance.

As of a few days ago we still had to get a company advance to get it.

    It happens sometimes.

Best bet is to make sure you get to a terminal before you run too low. If I'm near enough to a terminal, and have less than 1/2 tank, I'll divert to it for DEF.

well I met once some guy who said you could, just request additional products, then def, but then the fuel transaction didn't process and I didn't get my precious 1 penny for gal bonus from the pilot. I used to just pay first, get a co. adv. boom, right on my comdata card, then send in the rec' with the gals/price extra with my next transflo, never had a problem, only that one time when I tried it combined with my fuel. wrong answer forsure.

What is DEF and how often do you have to put in?

Serious question? I cant belive you're a driver and havent heard of DEF!

Its diesel exhaust fluid. Newer truck emision control systems require it. 2010 and newer I think. I believe you'll get around 250 miles to the gallon or so.

Haha, Mrh2008 prolly thought it was something similar to blinker fluid. :) I'm sure there's plenty of drivers out there just keepin their heads down and truckin along though who have no idea what DEF is though. I can't believe a large company like swift doesn't have a better way to get it yet though. I know my last company had maybe 20% or so of their fleet with trucks that required it, and we had it on our cards. *shrug*
