I need to know if Swift and Knight both let you bobtail home, or take the truck home in any manner during your home time?

Knight's take truck home policy is if you live 50mi or more from terminal, you can take truck home otherwise it has to be parked at terminal.
-
Heh, That would be Tulsa I believe and I am double that plus some from Tulsa. That's why I was worried about it.
-
Swift varies from terminal to terminal. Some of it has to do with whether or not the truck will be in a known high crime area like Southern California or Miami Florida area.
Mileage wise, from the terminals that allow it is over 90 miles I believe. -
Heh, Kansas city or Oklahoma city, about double that 90 miles or a little over either way. Well I will check with the recruiters when I talk to them but it looks as though I will be trucking home either way hopefully. If you wonder why I asked, my wife doesn't do well with city driving at all and I am a little nervous with having her come to get me. Besides it is so much simpler to just drive home.

Simpler , for you......
Be sure to verify what the recruiter says with the terminal mgmt. Carriers like their power on the yard for several valid and not so valid ( control issues ) reasons. Recruiter will tell you what you want to hear to get you in the seat.
I'm guessing your around 100 miles from the terminal by your own admission? You may have to buy your own fuel for that little part. It's enough fuel to upset the trucks mpg's in the reporting suite, which will matter to the T.O.M. and his bottom line.
Q: Do you have enough land to park the whole rig ? You might do better that way ( suggested ) as long as your empty.
Here, one more piece of info: Carrier policy varies but is genearlly close on the sitting rule. It runs between 24 to 72 hrs. ( 3 days ) After that point the tractor ( on paper ) has to be moved to inactive or shop status etc. Simply put , you're rolling or truck is on the yard.
Good luck... -
Thanks for the info, I will keep that in mind. As far as recruiters telling you what you want to hear, that seems to vary by company because Prime's recruiters won't tell me squat.
