Funny you should say that. There's a red T660 up for lease at the Edwardsville, KS yard right now as I type this. Unless someone leased it since yesterday.

What kind of fuel discounts do owner operators get at Swift?

if you are talking about the $50k balloon at the end of the lease, they will NOT finance.....FYI

and as far as that T660 sitting in Edwaks, that is probably the one that was sitting behind the shop waiting to get fixed/b-service last time i was there. Funny, Edwaks dont detail the trucks, and dont make sure the tires are up to spec. Heck, i found a steer tire on a drive axle on a T2000 that was up for lease a couple months ago....

i wouldn't lease anything out of Edwardsville....

That T660 has all new rubber on it. Looks pretty clean, too. But I didn't go inside it.

oh...i get it....so what someone tells you, is golden then? i shouldn't have to worry about silly little contracts then, huh?

point being, they can tell your mentor whatever they want. Unless you were actually THERE to listen to what they told them, you really dont know. You're taking your ol' mentor's word for it...and passing it along as fact.

I'll tell you what IEL told me....neither they, nor swift, finances the $50k balloon. Why do you think they tack on that balloon? they arent going to finance it when they can use that as a ploy to get the truck back.....you cant come up with the $50k balloon...they get the truck back...then lease it to another driver, at full price, for a year, then they get the truck back again, and again. They're not about to lose money on financing the balloon, when they know they can make more re-leasing the truck....

Actually, the history of their "use after lease" is lease for one more 2 year period, then sell the used rig to Columbia or Brazil....for a $98,750.00, 2005 W900L...Swift (IEL...same thing don't kid yourself there is any difference especially now with the corporation consolidation name change)...will recoup the $98,750.00, plus an additional $43,500.00 on the second lease period, and sell the unit for $22,000.00. That is for a 2005 model at the aforementioned price with a clear profit of $65,000.00 plus any and all fees, excess miles charged (by both leases), and several other additional charges.

Believe who you want, or dive on in and find out for yourself....just remember they are in this for a profit....at the cost of the driver!

or 3-4 short term leases...each one getting them a $2900 down payment. all i know is that they will not finance the $50k balloon. they want that truck back, as you said, to keep turning a profit.

yeah....slightly older truck number than what i've got. looks like that driver might have leased their truck a month or so before me. (oh NOOOoooo, am i NEXT !!!!????!!?!??!?!) :biggrin_255:

but, like i assumed...they didnt bother doing any detail work on the truck. Sure they put fresh rubber on (so they can bill it to the previous owner....er....leasee) and put 5th wheel grease on, but it didnt take much to tell they didnt bother to detail it. The view from the nose of the truck shows crap all over the dash. Climbing up on the drivers side step, there is a styrofoam cup and 20 oz bottle of soda sitting in the cup holders. Yeah...sorry...if the shop is this careless about doing a complete job (as they're paid to do) why do you think it takes them 8+ hrs to do a b-service, when other terminals do them in 2-4 hrs (with more hands working on the truck...like an indycar pitstop)

think i'll forward these pictures to the TM, FM and whoever is in charge of the midwest region.
