Thanks guys , Does the iPhone have a set speed or does it slow down after so many minutes ..... How much do you guys hold back on your payday ? I would think 25% for just in case bad things happen , up to a certain amount ?... I understand that the company trailers are fixed wheeled ? Are the loads per set for axle weight ?

The iPhone depends on whether you are in a 4g or 3g area and how strong the signal is. The van trailers are not fixed wheels, they slide. Not sure about the flatbeds. As far as holding back, I hold back anywhere from .10/mi to .15/mi every week. I have been in this lease now about 19 months, and this year I got a return, so all of that money that was held back, still sitting in savings. There is one thing that I do that many L/O do not do. I have a separate credit card that I use for items like truck wash and Oil Changes. Then just pay the charges off in 3 months. Leave the money in the escrow account and build up in case of something major, like tires. Pretty much everything on my truck is warranty.
fr8monkey Thanks this. -
( 1 ) Do u hold it back yourself or does the CO have a account that you can put it in and get to it when needed .
(2 ) The maintenance program cpm ( tires ) etc etc , what does that pay for.
(3) What about the cost of the generator , I was told that the trucks do not come with one ...
( 4 )Thank you again...............................................................................................................................

As far as the using a card for sundry charges, I do a similar arrangement. I basically have my pay loaded directly to my ComData account and use that as my operating cash. Every other week I pay myself and deposit funds form my ComData to my personal accounts.
Running team you probably will not need a generator. I run solo and can't cost justify an APU. -
Thank you my friend , I like picking brains ( lol ) I hope this sabbath day is great to all on this form I say GOD bless .... The trailers ?when loaded and waiting for pickup are they already set for/per axle weight . or do you have to find a set of scales to slide the wheels for set up ... Maybe a short story from all my new friends, on were they have been this week? , troubles they have had and fun ? Again thank everyone , and my prayers are with you all . ................................................................

I have past time behind the wheel , came out of the navy and went to work for my father-in-law as a pump jock working my way up to driver wrecker ( small to large ) Then got a job as a * Loader * were we would take very old U-model macks and go load the trailers , chain them down and go from one end of the county thru the city and back to the lot , for the over O/O drivers to have . Then went over O/O with flatbed company's and one van outfit , and I loved it . But back then the pay and the trucks were bad , My 1st over O/O was a no bunk truck were you would sleep over the steering wheel or take out the passenger seat and build a large box to put a heavy quilt on . And I would have stayed but the R.R. had better pay and insurance and better trucks ( 4 door boom ) . But today its all changed ( pay etc etc)
) ... So now me and the boy are hoping to start a new story in our lives , I was gone a lot with the R.R.. -
Skip, I agree with Mica, (and that pains me, HEHE), but everyone that I have talked to about leasing a truck here with Swift, I have told them all the same thing, and that is, go company at first, make sure that the miles are there and that you and Swift have a good fit. Then decide. While you are a company driver keep track of expenses, like you where a L/O and see how you would make out. I have now 20 years exp, and before I leased my truck through IEL, I was at first a company driver. I wanted to make sure. I have to say, since then I have not looked back. Also as a company driver, you can get to know your terminal and DM, and be honest and up front with them, tell them from the git go, that you are looking into the lease.

What about this ? The boy starts as a CO driver , since the lease is going to be in his name anyway , While he's learning the CO ways , I get the tests out of the way, and get the OK to ride/go train under him. Then we get a lease.
inkeper Thanks this. -
IT USED TO BE 6 MONTHS CLEAN RECORD TO TRAIN. IF YOU HAVE A LEARNER PERMIT OR REGULAR CDL YOU WILL NOT BE APPROVED TO RIDE. Sorry about the caps.........
