The other thing to remember is that the return miles for the o/o much of the time will be loaded miles.

So pretty much home nightly gig and only run in Florida???
Or mostly Florida runs but can run other states too??
Reason i'm interested is I live in Florida right now and this may be best fit for me. -
Got that message recently for 300 drivers, if I didn't have to relocate to such horrible places I might be interested.

Swift is moving all the brand new day cabs and new trucks with coffin sleepers from Greer to Decatur and then to Florida right now. Bunch just left today so they are getting prepared. they are all new from what I have seen leaving here.

Man I hope there still a opening after I get done with training.I should be done mid/late Oct.I'm still stuck in Florida but heck I would love a Walmart account. There 2 dc within 75 miles from where I live.Hope I can get in time.
I may be wrong about this but I think I read you can request a account while in training or be able to get in with one of there accounts after training???Last edited: Aug 19, 2011

Thing to do is start bugging your DM as soon as you get on your mentor's truck. Let him/her know you want to go to Walmart when you're finished with training. Ideally, you will get a mentor who is on the account.
I have not gotten any empty miles at all, despite hauling a trailer full of tubeless tire filler back to the DC most times. By that, I mean I have been paid loaded rate plus FSC for every dispatched mile.
Pay for O/O is 97.5cpm linehaul, FSC determined by onsite pump price plus stop pay. Pickup and Final are included in linehaul, as usual, but one store drop will also be included. Therefore, a three-stores-plus-final will pay stop pay for two stops.
It is actually not difficult to average 3K miles/week. Figure 6 500-mile days. At 30cpm, that's $900/week, plus stop pay. I average three stores per load. Paid for two of them, is another $180 /week for the company guy.
As far as that Greatwide guy b****ing about who can fix his A/C. He's FOS. He can take his truck where ever he wants to get it fixed. A/C malfunction is not a DOT issue. They couldn't care less about driver comfort and convenience. They just want to know the POS isn't going to take a dump while it's under a load. Swift is not doing "DOT" inspections on these trucks. They are inspecting them to see whether they are good enough to be on the fleet. Same requirement as any truck being leased on from outside. I challenge you to take your outside truck to any substantial company and lease it on without their mechanics going over it for roadworthiness.Last edited: Aug 20, 2011
