I hear it's a pretty big issue with lot of the companies. I'm a linehaul driver for OD, when I ran city it was rare to have damaged freight. We have some good dock workers that have been around for years. They pay them good too tho.

In my short experience in LTL, it seems to be shoving everything you can into the linehaul trailers that causes the most damage.
I've watched our guys unloading the trailers, and even though they use those second level racks, sometimes they stack stuff that should not be stacked.
That and the terminal's floor space being too small.
And not jumping on repairing damage to the trailers' inside walls, which ends up ripping cardboard boxes.

And, sometimes the driver not paying attention to what the customer is loading on a pickup, and not throwing a strap when he/she should have.
(Yes, I'm looking in the mirror.)

I thought one of the kids from Pitt married one of the kids from another LTL (was it Dayton Freight?), so they'd have to buy them both most likely.

Jerry Moyes Swifts former owner and founder already beat them to it, he bought Central after his departure from Swift, as of yesterday Central announced they are closing their doors after 96 years of service.

Reason for edit: Misspelled Moyes, changed from Moyers to Moyes.

Oh I know all the gory details I've unloaded trailers. Our bosses have taken pictures of the worst offenders to no avail. I load trailers too. It's so frustrating to go through all the effort only to have someone else tear it up!
