Hold on a sec. I am not one to dispute what someone says but to be a Mentor at Swift you have have a minumum of 6 months driving with them plus other OTR experience and then if they take you after 6 months you have better have a squeaky clean record such as no log violations, overpeeds no accidents etc. Also you have the option of turning down any Mentor for any reason.
Good luck to you on getting back into trucking.

Yeah, you do need 6 months, but that's the big thorn at SwiftQuit. They'll allow somebody with only 6 months' experience to train somebody else, a somebody else who may have 10 years' experience but has been off the road a little while.

it's all about money. They save money by hiring students and pay them less. They are a training company . That's what they do. And the other driver said that a student won't complain as much as an experienced driver would. I agree. Swift doesn't care if you have 10 years exp. If a student is standing next to you, they'll look at them first because it's cheaper for them.

You might learn something else 1st hand. What swift does to your DAC when you leave orientation.

You guys are preaching to preachers here, as I know I already have the lowdown on this, and I know you guys do as well.
I was one of those who said the noob is naive and will accept anything as gospel and will take much more abuse.
Yes, Swifty loves to screw the DACs of many drivers. This makes those drivers look less attractive to a competing carrier. -
After Jerrys $36 million dollar hit to his wallet, He might want to re-think
the newbie idea.....takes awhile to replace that much.... -
Prime seems to have a respectable training program. -
Hey Bubba, did the kid who rolled the truck have an explanation for what caused the rollover?

I have asked why this is to them directly and they always say that is just how it is. So I have to think it is money related since there is no other sane explanation why a company would think someone with 7 years experience would need to be trained by someone with 3 months because he drove local or not at all for a couple of years.
I took a year off and got the same responses from many companies even some local outfits, so I went to May trucking because they cared more about if I could do the job then anything else.
Mind you I had not driven a truck for a year or shifted a truck for 7 years (drove auto-shifts) and it only took maybe a day or 2 to get back into the groove. So it seems that if a company was to say you where to rusty to not need a trainer after not driving for a year or two, it would be a bogus statement.
