The one picture show shine on both sides of his left front steer. I don't know if the steer tire had gone prior to or after the smash.

Losing a steer requires instant and absolute precise correction and a series of further acts to keep from smashing up everything. It's so rare to lose a good steer. Ive had bad steers that needed replacement due to belt lining failure etc (Viberation) but never a proper steer failure.

How in hell do you lose control.... qoutes.. a EMPTY 18 wheeler?

Im sowwy... I have to be firm and ask that question. Anyone with any time on the road knows there is always a hand on the wheel. (Never mind some stories etc) and to lose her doing a turn? That must have been something in the cab.

I wonder if that was her significant other in the sleeper or her trainer? Pulling an empty, I dont see how she could lose control unless she was doing a hard brake or did blow a steer? And @xheavy I think pulling an empty is a little more tricky than a loaded trailer, cause an empty won't brake as well. I couldn't help but notice that the trailer tandems were slid all the way up. Personally, I never like tandems slid all the way up. It's too much whale tail for me and the unit doesn't feel as stable with tandems back. I would rate pulling an empty as just a notch safer than bob tailing.
The video of the first responder walking away with the child in his arms captures the crux of the moment.

Someone is going to pay dearly for this accident. I hope not, but the driver may face manslaughter charges. God help her if she had phone or electronic device in her hand.

It was more like the driver panicked and did not remember where the brake pedal was. So instead she jammed her foot on the accelerator.

I grant you your points on the trailer tandems. I like mine all the way up as well, and yes the semi has certain... behavior for lack of a better word when empty. Ive had been in many situations where Ive had to force a crossing of a concrete problem with a empty to get to a certain road for one reason or another. I guess I am less... worried about "Losing" that semi if it at all possible when empty.

For what's it's worth, I really like to be loaded. Even if the semi does not. Does that make sense? Ive been empty too much on winter ice getting into places to load when no one else will be moving during that storm. Maybe that is why I had the thought I did, how can someone screw up the empty. Anyone can turn a rig with a finger these days.

Your thoughts about the bunkmate maybe interfering in someway, a domestic? That's a possibility. Electronic devices? Certainly. I think she will be paying for these fatals for a long time to come. And she knows truth about what happened to allow the truck to get away the way it did.

Media is always... obtuse when they choose to be and I dislike them and distrust them for it. I have made a habit where possible to root around and get raw video from a stranger not associated with any media else where online. Even banned events like Saddam's Hanging, I have the entire video of it. Not the nice edited version presented to the USA for example.

I tend to be rather.. heavy in my thoughts from time to time. And people will do well to take it with a grain of salt. Ive saved many children over the years and any time we lose one it really gets you because they are our future. And always will be. what a life lost forever. I can only hope and think that one will see a way better world and place with the hope for a enternal morning someday for us all.

    Im not sure.

A big truck revs relatively slowly. And boom she needs to shift. So.. zero to what? Walking speed? Maybe it did cheerfull go to speed with a auto.... That would be a mess. Im thinking more towards that durn trailer. What in the world made that thing come around the way it did. Post impact maybe? I don't know.

Now a car? Easy for a granny to take out a DMV office from sitting spot there was a recent video of one on overnight pulp tv.

No. If that's a trainer in her bunk then she's a new driver. That's all.
