Swift driver

If your assigned a mentor he should be alone. Yes call driver development if you have any trouble or anything that bothers you. After a week you should get a message to call and answer a bunch of Questions. If your mentor is showering regularly and things like that be truthful. Again if anything about your mentor concerns you call they will get you another mentor. And for #3 as long as you communicate with them they should let you go with no trouble. I left Swift after 2and a half weeks and went to Schneider with no trouble. Good Luck to you. There is a swift thread my first year with swift try to find it it's good reading but don't let it get you down about swift. Just be aware that an o/o or l/o will run you a little hard they need to make money. Run legal and learn all you can. And also find out about how to log for loading and unloading an o/o or l/o will more than likely tell you to be off duty to save hours but then you don't get paid. Find out the policy for trainies I think you should be on duty not driveing at least 2 hours for both other wise you will only get paid for driving hours and verl little on duty time. Find out the policy and don't let your trainer tell you something different. Since swift has the new pay policy you want to be on duty and driving as much as you can to make a little money. Call about this as soon as you can and if you can get it in writing.

There is a macro in the Qualcomm in each truck that asks the trainer when the student driver is ready to go on their own. They have to have 50 hours of driving time in to be able to go to team driving. Then 240 hours will finish team driving so the student will get their own truck. Why do student drivers have to wait to get a trainer after orientation? Swift is trying to find a trainer in your area so when you go on home time, you will be in the same area to meet and so on. The trainer cant smoke if you don't want that and so on. You will be notified at home when your trainer is located so down time for you doesn't mean that a trainer isn't being located for you. hope this helped.

 

You made two mistakes in this reply. It is the trainers truck. If the trainer wants to smoke, then they can. The student can not tell him to stop. The student can chose if want to go with trainer that smokes or does not. As far as home time. When a student finishes and tests out, who knows what terminal that will happen at. The student that I am picking up next, lives in MT, and I live in OH, and guess where my home time is.
