Here is a list of requirements for having a pit bull in the city of Salina, Ks

    1) A special permit must be renewed every year
    2) Dog must be kept on a leash when outside, not tied to an object.
    3) All pit bulls shall be securely confined indoors
    4) All Pit bulls shall be micro chipped.
    5) All pit bulls shall wear a special colored collar
    6) All pit bull owners shall obtain and maintain public liability insurance of $100,000 for bodily injury or death
    7) All pit bulls shall be photographed for identification purposes.

I wonder how many of these things the dogs owner actually did to keep and protect his best friend?

She doesn't need a NEW home. The guy doesn't seem to be neglecting her. Sure, she got out...and was promptly gathered back up, just not before a nosy neighbor called the cops. If more people would just mind their own #### business, the world would be a better place.

It is unfortunate that the owner didn't know of the ordinance against Pit Bulls. However I don't see the need to destroy a dog that done nothing wrong other than was breathing. Fine the owner don't take it out on the dog.The dog got outside and was put right back inside and bothered nothing. If people and kids were that well behaved it'd be a better place. I don't have an issue if the dog had attacked someone or shown aggression it would be put down.
So in many of your worlds there should be no education or second chances on laws or ordinances. It should be the max sentence right off the bat. Be careful what you wish for. Society is way too liberal on many capital/violent cases and that should change. This isn't one of those. I'm for letting the punishment fit the crime and that's not the case here.

Another view might be that it was a CONCERNED neighbor reporting a possibly dangerous dog running loose.

It is unfortunate the dog is being put down just because of his breed. I didn't read all the posts, did anyone mention if the owner had bothered to get the dogs license or shots? Because i would think either the vet or local animal control should have made him aware of the ordinances where he lives. If they failed to do that, shame on them. If the owner failed to have his dogs information up to date, shame on him.

Some pigs try to enter my home to confiscate my dog, there would be one less pig and one less taxpayer in the world.

And you would take the law into your own hands, by your own volition, and murder a police officer for doing his job and upholding the law to keep the community safe?
I think that is just about the sickest thing I've heard in a long while.

It's a sad thing when a Vegan would kill anyone or anything, except the plants that they kill to eat of course.
I guess it is simply a case of hypocrisy, yet again.
A misguided sense of 'doing the right thing', or superiority, when in the end it amounts to the same thing.

I've seen some seriously ignorant comments in this forum but THAT one ranks right up there in the "TOP FIVE MOST IGNORANT"!!

Another Legend In His Own Mind and a fine addition to the trucking profession.

Right, because a police officer entering my home to kill an animal that did nothing wrong except being of the "wrong" breed seems to be justified somehow in your twisted deranged mind. I wouldn't kill anyone or anything except those whom attempt to hurt me or mine. Hypocrisy? Most people who eat animals are the same ones who go home and love on their dogs or cats and claim to be "animal lovers". That's hypocrisy in its purest form. Watching a movie like "Babe" and wanting the pig to escape while munching on pork rinds.
