I am really leaning towards Swift been accept to Trans AM but I made a list of the things I like about both and Swift just sticks out I know every body says Swift sucks but hear its a good company too so the only way to find out is jump in and check them out.

I am a recent grad and had a prior past that has got me turned done by most of the companys I applied to either I was fired from last job or a misd. poss of marijuana over 14 years ago so I only have 2 options Trans Am or Swift but the funny thing is Trans Am did a criminal background check on me and not 1 of my 4 misdemeanors came up I guess they all disappeared by supervision or were dropped.

I am suppose to hear from Swift on Monday and investigation on background which should come out clean like with TA.

I am leaning towards Swift because I want to do over the road a year then do dedicated after I get the exp. TA no dedicated and all autos. I got Hazmat so I am hoping to run hard and get lots of miles my 1st year my biggest problem is backing but I guess that comes over time and oh ya I got a bad habit of dumping the clutch at times.

With my misdemeanors will I have a problem getting into Canada if Swift even goes thier??? they don't show up on my record now????

How does Swift treat you, how are the miles, Inverters the TRUTH heard some yes plugins some say no inverters at all whats the real deal

Thanks for any info stay safe out there

Any felony convictions? = no entry into Canada. Trans Am is one of those companies that wants to stuff a flease up your kiester?

Were you upfront about the pot conviction?

Do not lie about anything on your application. Should have pulled your DAC and see what shows up before applying anywhere.

If you work OTR, you will never go to Canada. Swift has a dedicated team that does all border crossings. If you pickup a load going to Canada, you will drop it at one of our yards, and someone else takes it from there. So don't worry about whether you can go into Canada or not-it's a moot point if you go with Swift.

Hard wired inverters are not allowed in company trucks. Plug-in inverters are used by most, just keep in mind no matter what wattage it says on the outside, 150w is the maximum output on a plug-in inverter. I've never gotten a clear answer on whether or not plug-ins are against the rules or not, but I've never been scolded for it, and I leave it out in plain sight.

Miles will start out low as they test you to see if you are a good worker or not. Be on time, run hard without going illegal, and your miles should gradually improve. If they don't, then get proactive. Swift has freight. It is available.

Overall, I get treated OK. I wouldn't say great. My DM is fantastic. A lot of other people I've worked with are fantastic. There are also some jerks. The mechanics tend to be not so great, though there are exceptions. I'm not going to say Swift has never made me mad, but I don't think there is a company out there that would never make me mad.

Funny, I've been with Swift for over 5 years now and have no regrets at all. I listen to the stories of horror and complaints told on here by drivers that no longer work for Swift or never worked for them at all and wonder what company they are talking about, it isn't the Swift I know. Sure there are times of miscomunication, but nothing so serious that it can't be worked out quickly to all's satisfaction, sometimes one must be willing to sway with the breeze. In a nutshell, all companies are SOBs...it is the SOB that you know and learn to work with that makes the difference.

I was at the truck show in Dallas today and talked with people from several companies that were very interested in me when I told them I had been here 5 plus years. Trans Am was one of them. To be honest, they couldn't offer me anything that Swift wasn't already doing for me. The only one that is more appealing is Wal Mart out of the Palestine DC, but there are some negatives there as well that I am going to have to do some serious thinking about if I decide to move away from Swift.

Good luck wherever you decide to go.

Yes I was honest about my record and wouldn't have mattered
Trans Am couldn't find any of my charges and I have no felonys
All misdemeanors got dismissed and super vision so I guessing
    Why they weren't found.

That sucks about Canada but the lower 48 will do.

Good to hear your happy with Swift been reading some much bad
About them but also seems most of them don't e en work for
    Them must have been fired.

Think I will check Swift, see lots of Swift trucks everyday shouldn't be a problem
Get home and I live near 12 warehouses and Swift is always at them

Hailing from St. Louis...you will be going to the Millington Academy (if Swift is the final choice)....after the academy, you will have to make a choice on which terminal you want to call home. To your East you have Columbus, OH...decent terminal especially if you like running East coast and back to Columbus. To your West you have Edwardsville, KS (Kansas City)...running North/South i.e. Chicago, Dallas, Memphis pretty much covering the midwest. There are a couple terminals in the Chicago/Detroit zone, then there is Memphis of course....my preference would be a hard one to narrow down, but either Columbus or Edwardsville. Both have (should say had...it's been a few years but I still have a few friends at Swift)....yeah yeah, I saw the disclaimer, but I bend the rules most all the time....both have great people in the offices, and seem to care about keeping the drivers moving.

No school for me just orientation I've had my license for a week now and got all endorsements. My recruiter said Edwardsville KS would be my home terminal.

She is suppose to call me Monday they did a investigation on my background
For a 14 yr old marijuana poss. Charge misd. But it doesnt show on my record anyways. I should get a oreintation date but my gf has pneumonia and will have to wait till after Labor Day we have kids and can't leave her with them being this sick hope the understand and wait another week for me.

What ever terminal I choose can I run all 48? Or only certain area I wanna run all 48, I wanna go to Cali and the desert.

Edwardsville will be great for you....they always have loads at the terminal going to/through St. Louis....also there used to be a big drop yard in East St. Louis...across from the race track I think...if I remember right.
