That's how I like to run, I stop every few hours for at least a few minutes. Trick is really to pull into rest areas not truck stops, you cut the lost time in half by not really getting off the highway. Keeps you more alert and you can actually develop health issues by sitting in one spot for too long.

Some terminals do have dedicated Canada fleets. Basically, if there are any Canada lds available, you will be planned on one of them. If there aren't any Canada lds available, you will be planned on a typical OTR ld.

Swift is what you make it, whine and gripe and you may sit a lot. Work and be professional and you should stay rolling. Expect frustrating days and some days of doubt, ask questions, find answers, and work out solutions. Have your own experinces and kinda avoid all the negative you hear, even at our own terminals lol, this industry is the way it is everywhere, some just make more a mile.

Making more for each mile is great. As long as there are miles in which to make it.

    Just sayin.

Any felony convictions? = no entry into Canada = NOT a 100% true statement. See deemed rehabilitation.
I am not a Swift driver, but I felt the need to go on record to correct this common mistake.

I'm glad I found this thread. A lot of good info, and ideas here.

I think the attitudes of the people who have responded here are possitive for the most part, and really what I needed to help me make a decision to work for Swift.

I figured it was a good place to get started if you've never had a job in this field. After reading these posts, I believe I'll do well at Swift, should they decide to put me to work.

I hope so. I've been retired for 2 1/2 years now, and frankly, I'm a little bored. In retrospect, I should have retired at 65, instead of 55. 55 is too young unless you made millions or billions during your regular work life.

When the pension only covers the bills, and not much more, I think it's time to get back to work.

I'd rather work less to get the same paycheck. More time to go out and play! :biggrin_25519:

And it's nice to know that the pension does cover the bills, especially during those no-pay and/or low-pay weeks. It's one of the factors I'm looking forward to most.
