At the risk of taking some friendly fire, I am going to chime in on this one....
This job is just like any other job out there. We are gonna take some classes that we will not be paid for. That is particularly true in today's economy, as companies are looking for ways to cut expenses. At my last employer, I was required to attend at least 1-2 office meetings every week during my lunch hour (my time).
As for sweeping trailers and making simple repairs, I just look at it as something that I need to do in order to keep my wheels moving. If I sit waiting for a repair or if I get rejected by a customer due to a messy trailer then I am losing money. I really hate to lose money!! I too would love to get paid for some of the extra stuff that we do, but it just isn't gonna happen until this recession loosens its grip on everyone's wallet.
Swift drivers, sound off

I need a certified radio tech to ride along with me....in case I want to change the station on the radio!
And a member of the SEIU to make my bed in the morning...or to pour my coffee while I am driving down the highway!BigShrek72, Injun, tazaaa and 1 other person Thank this. -
What does this statement have to do with getting paid for little S***.
You know, maybe you should have gone into the cheese business. A nice little shop somewhere.Injun Thanks this. -
Well, when I mentioned it, I wasnt thinking of any one specific person, just in general. At my last job, we kept headlight bulbs in stock in the office because the trucks we had were bad about blowing them. More than once I had to go change a bulb (literally took 2 minutes, if that) because a driver either did not know how or just didnt want to do it.scottied67 Thanks this.

So you have to wait at your home terminal for a B service before you can go home? Thats a bunch of crap. That stinks, really.
scottied67 Thanks this. -
Well, thats your choice driver. If you choose to not do simple work yourself, by all means, go to the shop or call onroad. My point, really, was that I would rather keep the wheels rolling, because that is how I make money as a driver, not sitting around waiting on a grease monkey to change a bulb when he could be doin a B service so blsqueak can go home.Giorgio, scottied67 and Injun Thank this.
