I’m probably going to get ripped for these but I know that with a second chance, I will do much better.
Preventable #1 -- I was with my mentor around week 2 of my training, driving into rest stop at 2:30am. I pulled fwd into a parking lane with trucks (and trailer) on either side of me. It was early in my training, had been driving all night, went into car mode in my mind by not pulling around wide as i advanced into the space. In doing so, the left side of my trailer scraped the right rear corner of a Werner trailer. My mentor was beside himself angry that the Werner driver insisted on reporting it. Werner trailer was already banged up pretty bad and the mark I left was a very minor scrape, hardly noticeable. But the Werner driver played it by the book, so we had to report it.
Preventable #2 -- I was driving northbound I-55 in Mississippi, headed to Memphis Swift terminal to call it a night. My DOT clock had about one hour left on it and I was approx. 45 min from Memphis terminal when I got caught in a torrential downpour, could not see 3 feet in front of me. needed to pull off the interstate and find a place to shut down for the night. I misread a sign, thought it said Truck Stop next exit. I was wrong. There was no truck stop, only a small gas station. My DOT clock was running down as I tried to figure out where to park. Long story short, I found a truck yard to park in but had to proceed down an alley way to get to gate entrance (remember, it’s still pouring crazy rain). Once there I discovered the gate is locked. So Im stuck in this very narrow area, DOT clock running down. I Should have just stopped right there and waited for the morning. But I decided to try and maneuver truck around and exit the alley. I finally managed to turn around but not before jackknifing the truck just enough to crack one of the tractor fairings.
Preventable #3 -- This was just outside NYC, I pulled into a dock which had pillars alongside each lane, causing for a very narrow path to enter and exit. I open and latch my trailer doors after pulling halfway into the dock. They loaded the trailer and I got set to leave, but failed to close the doors prior to pulling out of dock. Right door gets caught on one of the pillars and falls off.
Swift fired me 4 yrs ago, 3 preventables, 1 tix for missing weigh st., want 2nd chance

Then there was the not paying attention to your surrounding and blowing past an open scale. You know a place that typically has several signs a mile away to tell you to go in.
All that being said @Chinatown is a much better person than me. If you let us know where you are at he'll give you a list of companies.DTP, sherlock510, ruudhompsor and 1 other person Thank this. -

Until @Chinatown shows up to reply, TransAm and Carolina Cargo come to mind, O/P.

(I may have missed the explanation, so if I did, point it out to me)
How did you lose your CDL? That has nothing to do with Swift. -
Since you aren't starting until January, that's more time behind you.. I'd keep trying.
I personally don't think you are wasting your time, btw. Just get it in WRITING if and when you do go with PAM, because if you get into Driver Solutions (their recruiting/training company) I'm not so sure it's a guarantee that PAM will actually let you drive for 'them'.
I could be wrong, just what I've come to understand. You've got plenty of time to do your research and reaching out; keep plugging along. -
TripleSix Thanks this.

Good luck . Save your self the aggravation and find another trade . You might be better as a uber or lyft driver .
DTP Thanks this. -
But I want to know, what have you been doing and why is it that you think that NOW, you would be a much more complete, competent driver?tinytim, REO6205, ZVar and 1 other person Thank this.
