95000 miles / 36 weeks is 2638 miles a week. That would be pretty close to the 2500 a week I stated earlier but you are a mentor! That means you get the student miles too so as a team you run 2638 miles a week or 1319 a driver per a week. If my 2500 a week is lazy your 1319 is pathetic.

The numbers have been posted in all the Swift terminals. I just looked at a printed copy I had.

I don't get it ... I've only been driving for a year. With England until July and now with Swift. What does guy have to do to get 1600 to maybe 2000 miles a week???

With my trainer at CRE we were doing 5900 a week. Then I went out with my son, other than being shut down for weather over Christmas, we averaged 6000 miles a week.

Now, I did sign on at CRE with another L/O and he was a truckers trucker and into the whole trucker ethos ... he was able to to keep us around 3900 a week ... I left his truck and CRE after 3 weeks and went to Swift.

Swift wanted me to go out with a mentor for 2 weeks ... The mentor was on a dedicated account that was giving him 4200 mile a week, home every night, Saturday off and $.34 a mile. But after the first day, he told me you know how to run teams, want to do some OTR. So we did 5500 miles a week for the next 2 weeks and still took Saturday off.

After training I signed on with a friend to get my miles so I could qualify L/O, plus see how L/O worked with Swift. We did 4900 on a 5 day short week ... then 5900 ... 5100 the last 5 days on his truck.

So I'm on my second week on my own truck and solo for the first time. I did 3200 miles my first week and I will do 2900 this week.

So I ask, what kind of nimrod do you have to be to only get 2000 miles, much less only 1600 miles a week.

See thats what I dont understand...... How long ago did you work for them? I have now driven with the company 8 weeks and have logged over 23,000 miles give or take. Thats almost 3000 mile per week. Consistant!! ! ! Now is it going to be 3000 miles every week? Who knows, but the 1st 8 weeks have worked out pretty good for me. I dont know of ANYONE who could make it on 1600 miles per week, even making 50cpm. I think companies like Swift would fall through, because even broke people would realize that it would be cheaper for them to just sit at home than it would be to drive and only get 1600 miles per week.

Well that just proves my point, now doesn't it? You could not even argue a good rebuttal to any of my points.

All you can come up with is your lame attack on me. For one thing I don't even work for Swift. I am in college going for my Masters Degree in Accounting. So I hardly am getting screwed.

My last Trucking job 2 years ago, was flat bedding for a small firm in Wy. I made 23% of the gross for every load I pulled. So tell me Mr. Smart One how much money did I take home each week?

and we'll still continue to have a job driving a truck. Just remember us, the next time you pour yourself a 6-pack of beer. Remember us the next time you rip open a box of doughnuts. Remember us the next time you get into, then start, your 1981 Malibu. Remember us the next time you go to Family Dollar and buy ANYTHING. Because we're the ones who brought it to ya.

3000-4000 as a solo? Come on buddy. I've been around Swift for 2 yrs....and i can call Bull Shatner on this one. Look at it this way. You get 11 hrs to drive. 14 hrs to work them in. 70 hrs in 8 days to it in. meaning if you average 8 days into 70 hrs. thats 8.75 per day to WORK. At MOST, you can show driving for 8.50 (not figuring in fuel here and there) the MOST you're going to average driving mph will be 55. thats 467.5 miles a day.......times 7.......is 3272 miles a week. But yet somehow you said you get 4000??? You honestly going to tell me you get 4000/wk? that would mean your average daily load is 570 miles. that would mean you drive 10-11 hrs a day every day, all week. Unless you're REALLY cooking your books, and even Swift wouldn't allow you to do it without getting log violation after violation, there is no way you're close to 4000.

you say 3000-4000, but yet you say 'ive got 95,000 mi to my credit." If you're taking the miles off of your 'gold-silver-bronze' status.....i had to burst your bubble, but that is a rolling 52 week total. I've got 10k miles on ya, buddy. and i can tell ya, i average 2600/wk when i want to stay out. I can be home every weekend if i wanted, but then my checks are only $500 take home. If i stay out, and go home every other weekend, my checks will average $700-850.

4000 mi average? PM me with your truck number, and i can verify it or not. Odds are, you'll never give it to me. :biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

hahaha...i just re-read your post. 95,000 AFTER you went to be a 'mentor'??? you operate as a team truck, and yet i'm doing more miles than you?? again....whats your truck #......LOL.....i'm rollin' over here.

leasing a truck thru swift? whats your weekly payment...$500? unless you drive 3k mi/wk, you're not going to make any more driving your own truck as you would being a solo company driver. That's why i'm still a co. driver. the risk just isnt worth it. what...make an extra $100 a week than a co. driver, but if the truck breaks down, i'm F-ed? $5200 extra a year...and if you have one major breakdown, or if you're unlucky enough to run over, and ruin tires, your 'extra' profit is cut in half. Just not worth it to me. all be best to you though....
