I love being by myself. I was just looking for options that would allow money to be saved. I can be by myself for months at a time. I love the fact that trucking is a lifestyle and not just a job. The cameras don't bother me because the company I work for now have cameras for the same reason Swift does. I basically spend 12-14 hours a day in my ambulance because we don't have a ambulance bay where we go and park at. We are posted at gas stations throughout the city and metro area. And they are going to automatics?

Yes, @Rookie1012 could do better than Swift. However, she wants "company paid training" (CDL school). I can't think of any company out there that's better than Swift in that category. Think CRST and CR England. Know what I'm saying?

Most Mega Carriers are transitioning to Automatics. You might train with a Manual, but I would take the CDL Road Test with a Manual. If you take it with a Automatic and pass, there will be a Restriction on your CDL, that states "You are Restricted to only drive a Automatic Class A Vehicle".

If that happens and you want to take the Restriction off, you will need to take the DMV Road Test over again with a Manual.

If you pass with a Manual, there isn't any Restriction on what type of transmission equipped vehicle you can drive with.

Cameras don't bother you? Keep in mind that every second you're in that truck "COULD" be watched by some perv in safety waiting for you to undress. They say it "only records during events". But there have been reports of drivers getting reprimanded for talking on the phone while driving when no event took place. Granted, they are only rumors.

Yup. A bud of mine refused to take time off for a five day weekend ATV trip just for that reason. Didn't want to lose his ride and get some filthy piece of crap.

The same can be said of pretty much every mega company with their own CDL school. There really isn't one that has cornered the market on how to it better than the others. They all have warts in one way or another.

Go to Prime Inc. Best training from a starter company. Good trucks with APU's. I don't think you're paid during school but you will be paid during training. And they pay very good for no experience
