Well, he’s probably leery of the potential for a railroad job that may result from making that call.

If this alleged “mentor” all of a sudden gets called on the carpet for a report of unsafe driving habits, the OP can pretty much bank on a retaliation of some sort, at which point it will come down to credibility.
