Which Mileage Calculation Method does Swift use to calculate driver pay?
Please correct me if I am wrong, but as far a I have been able to determine there are five mileage calculation methods used by the trucking industry:
1) HHMG Miles (HouseHold Movers Guide)
2) HHG Miles (HouseHold Goods)
3) PC Practical Miles Program (PMP) *
4) Rand McNally Practical Route Miles (PRM)?
5) Hub Miles < added by snowman01
*Is 3) PC Practical Miles Program (PMP) used by PCMiler?

1 and 2 sound like good answers but doesn't that add up to 3. and the above posted that 3 wasn't the correct answer
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
1 and 2 are the same and that is what a lot of companies use. The poster forgot #5 which is hub miles.

ANSWER...i have no idea what method they use to determine pay..none...but I do know they route you practical miles..via qcomm routing...usually?...Does it piss you off op?...ok it did me too..until..i understand why they do it...does it cheat you? Yes it cheats you..out of money you should get for driving every mile...does it everytime you take a load?..maybe not sir...u choose your route..u will find the one that swifts is paying you for...but you will miss your fuel stops that u been routed on...standard operating practice of almost every trucking firm in the usa...becoz to bill a customer for the load have to know what to charge for it??? A small company can bill a customer for a door to door load...not a large company like swift...too many variables...its a business!..u a small but yes very important part of it...cant run trucking co without you..lol...dont forget that.but understand and learn..use that to your advantage...lot of so called free work in trucking industry..not just the mileage u are paid...

google it.
i remember that swift lawsuit. since then. actual miles is being heard more and more.
our company doesn't pay actual. but it's pretty close. -
It's easy to pick your own route and still hit fuel stops.
If the Fuel Stop is way out of route you can request a different one, it may not work. Or just tell them you wont make it to fuel stop.
