They like to proffer the propaganda that there is a shortage of drivers. This is not true. There is a shortage of driver compensation.
Wal-Mart starts drivers out at over 80k per year and home weekends. They have no shortage of applicants and only hire mature experienced drivers. That is my goal.
I have 1.5 years and in 6 months will be eligible to apply.
Driving can be a good career for the right person. It is not for everybody but I love every challange it presents.
I do well financially at Swift and my co-workers are stunned when they see how much I make. I took home 4700 the last 4 weeks after taxes.
It does not matter much who you work for but how you work with them. Do your work first, then rest. Cook rather than live on junk food. Do the right things for the right reasons and you can do well anywhere.
1.5 years now and I am 100% on time. I deliver a clean trailer to my customer and play by their rules. I don't look, smell or dress like a bum. Swift bends over backwards to keep me around and am happy to be a part of the Troutdale team. My DM Rick Tate gets credit for 99% of my success but the whole crew in Troutdale rocks. All very experienced and they have my back. That makes my job easy. Too easy IMO.

I'm not nearly as industrious as you, but Swift has taken care of me as well over the past 6 years.
And Swift will be sorry to lose you when you leave. -
Nothing. I don't see a video of it when I log in and go to the DriverCam section, and no one ever called me about it.
In fact I have never been called to explain any of the video sent by the camera. It is always 'resolved' with no interaction from my end.
I have been in the DriverCam system for more than 6 months. 4 videos have been sent back to Swift for review, and all 4 have been resolved without me saying anything. -
The critical events that the Q/C gives seem not to be tied to the camera system. I've gotten a few C/E that never showed up as well, and I never heard anything from Swift on any of the C/E.

Has there been any updates to pay since the original post? Also does anyone know what flatbedders average in miles per week at Swift?
-
Latest flatbed rates company side. As of may2015.
Late summer and fall this year was 2800-3000 average. Worst week this winter has been 2200. Except for the week maybe (1300 miles) I broke down 4 and a half days. Got paid 500 miles a day for that BS for the 4 full days. (That's a flatbed thing as far as I know.)
Average length of run is about 1400 miles.Attached Files:
Toomanybikes and ZeeX10 Thank this. -

Does anyone have any current information on the dry van division? Miles/week? Detention time? How do you deal with not having an APU or power inverter on your truck?
-
They are installing inverters now at least at greer and syracuse if you ask them to. Also the new trucks are coming with 5000 watt factory installed inverters
Blk_Powder Thanks this. -
My '17 Cascadia has a 1800W inverter, factory installed.
I doubt the 5000W claim. It is total overkill and too costly.
I'm not even sure a stock alternator could keep up with that kind of load, and batteries would be drained in seconds. Pulling 900W I have to start the engine within a couple minutes because the voltage gets too low to sustain it.Blk_Powder and FerrissWheel Thank this. -
The 17's we have here all came with 5000watt inverters my 14 has a 2500watt installed by the shop
