OK, so you don't get anything other than the cash price. Not a good deal IMO. Swift is pocketing the extra money and the L/O signs off his chance to improve his bottom line.

AFA the 6000 trucks? It's just a number Squeak. Just as I didn't use a higher discount number. $.15 isn't jack diddly squat compared to what actually happens. And Swift's audacity trying to get the L/O's to not buy at Love's at one time shows you how much they wanted the "invisible" money from the fuel purchase. It wasn't as lucrative of a discount for the company as the other sellers at the time.

As for me coming here? I try to dispell the BS.

Swift served their purpose for me. There was good and bad, and there was stupid. They are under staffed for how many trucks they have running. Can't find empty trailers and have you bobtail all over the place on the hopes of finding one. You with the Trailer Trax tech and their computer system they would have a better handle on things. (some of the stupid)Case in point a friend called Ocala today. 9am or so. It rolled over to Decatur. Nobody answered the phone! 9am or so. What's up with that?

From what I have read here Swift hasn't gotten any better. And the GOAL macro is laughable.

I am sure Swift will show you the real rates as I would trust them completely as they are so trust worthy.

I don't do personal attacks like some in the past have done. I think I am civil and will admit mistakes, and innacuracys. (Can't spell that one)

Just getting the truth out there so the folks can make sound informed decisions. Lots of lambs get lead to the slaughter with visions of grandeur. Almost predatory.

Time for bed I got up at 1:30am. Mopar show tomorrow.

I try to help............................see my sig

The majors all over price the market, so they can give a discount ... Until prices started coming down about 3 days ago I haven't seen a major priced less than $4.01 and the national average is $4.13 ... my average price over the past 4 weeks $3.93.

So BFD ... you go with a company that gives a $.15 discount off the majors. But, do they allow you to use your card at the next exit where Ma Kettle charges $.30 less? Also how much do they charge per transaction and if you go out of network, how much is the surcharge? Hmmm ... is there a reason that I never see LS or Schnieder or Mercer or CHR or any of the other large leasors at the mom and pops.

So Swift keeps the discount off the majors. In return we can use thier fuel card anywhere we want at no additional charge ... other than the standard $.34 ...

Landstar uses Comdata just like you. They can use the card the same places as you.

"So Swift keeps the discount on the majors in return we use their card" You don't mind getting hosed on your biggest business expense do you?

What are the charges you think they are paying? I'll check on that one.

Even at $.15 on 150 gallons is $22.50. Yet you are willing to pay the extra. Some discounts are deeper. Depends on many factors.

You aren't making sense. Tell me why it is better for your bottom line to buy more expensive fuel?

Pilot/FlyingJ is one for price fixing. I will use their rest rooms, I won't even buy a cup of coffee there.

Don't get me started on the Haslams.

    That is so wrong.
You dont get a fuel discount unless you go fuel at a swift terminal.
Swift o/o that use swifts fuel card pay cash price no matter where they fuel.

As per your contract swift keeps any discount that they get.

Anyone interested in a lease at swift and your already a company driver. Then I highly recommend you take over a lease. In other words ask for a short term lease like 10 months. That will give you a chance to learn what it takes. Simply put its a discipline.
The only expense you can control is your fuel. Meaning use a progressive shift style keep your rpms low, use cruise, and dont speed.

I dont need to break down my expenses I lumped them into FIXED expenses.
I said my fixed, I said my gross , I said my net. Simple math gives you fuel.
Other expenses that you need to consider is if you drive over 11k miles in a month with a IEL lease you will be charged 9 cents a mile for every mile over that mark. They charge it in the 3rd week of the following month.
the next expense nobody seems to mention is you highway use tax. Its quarterly however swift settles monthly.
Basically like a taxi cab meter. You are charged fuel tax for every gallon burned in the state your driving in.
Kentucky charged both per gallon and per mile. New mexico same. Oregon charges over 13 cents a mile.

A great way to offset this cost is what you fuel. For example gary in to laredo texes. You turn to page A6 in your rand mcnally and look at how much every state charges. The strategy is to fuel in the highest tax states . I fuel in IL drive to effingham IL top off. Drive 57 to 55 stop in n.little rock ar. Get about 40 gal and finish my run. I end up over paying fuel tax and het a credit back.

Paying cash price is never a discount. Thats top dollar. Want to know what swifts discount is? Call comdata after you fuel at a TA or Petro. Dont call the number on the card. Call customer service and asked them what you were charged. It averages 30 cents a gallon off cash price. They pay cost plus 2.5 cents a gallon.

I dare someone to argue with me. I'm 100% right on this and my above post.

SWIFT BASHER! SHIFT BASHER! CALL THE MODS!!

Thank you flatbed22 for telling the truth. Landstar keeps some of the discount AFAIK. Still a better deal than Swift.

Now refigure your profits with the rebates by the fuel you bought.

    I think I hear crickets............

Yes that's how you make the money there Train in a lease truck, and run it solo with a GOOD driver after you paid it off, whilst training in a new truck. When i was there, a lot of the office rats where jumping into a lease deal and training.

Your Welcome! And I have done the numbers if I was on at Landstar.
I sat with their fuel book. If my gross at swift stayed the same and I just apply the fuel discount and the higher fuel surcharge, I will net an additional $750 a week. Now when I apply my truck payment of the truck I just bought. I net another $300 a week for a total of $1050 a week in additional net profit.
My payment at swift is 610 a week 2500 a month. The truck I just bought $1100 a month.

Not to mention higher pay over all

Real simple I don't buy at the majors ... getting 15 to 30 cents less than the majors is not a problem. It really doesn't matter to me that Swift keeps the discount ... I'm buying where the discount is already built into the retail cash price.

You can run around screaming Swift is ripping you off, but it doesn't impact me ... ultimately it's a non issue.
