From what ive heard Swift is number 1 as worst "big" outfits to work for, Central seems pretty good, i was close to running with them in sept of this year but happened to find something local. Myself id go with Central, and still might in Jan

Same people. It is Jerry Moyes. Central really tries hard for the lease.

Swift has a very large freight base= less time sitting waiting for a load.

Pretty much any starter company is low pay and lots of aggrivation. Pick one and pull the trigger.

Reefer you are doing more grocery warehouse which I hate. Sit 4 hrs for a lumper to break down the load, company to check it all in.......crappy attitudes from the warehouse people.

Give me the drop and hook, I'll drive by you while you sit.:biggrin_2559:

It most likely depends on what your looking for... Every company is going to have their good points and bad, good people and bad people.
But it is really going to boil down to what your want, and what you are willing to make of it.
My wife and I, are going with CRS. Mainly because they are picking up 2/3 of the cost of the school. My wife has not driven before and I have been out of it for some 20+ years.
Plus, they (at least the recruiter) seems to be ok with our plan for working....

I think they are about the same these days.
Central use to be allot better than they are now, and Swift use to be allot worse.
Yes, they are both owned by the same person, though not managed the same at all.

I think that it is easer to start out on Dry van, but really reefer was not bad at all to me. Pain when dropping trailers, since you had to make sure you filled the tanks over 3/4 before any drop. And you know that they will be less than 1/4 when you get your load. Since they store stuff in them till they get low on fuel.

On the dry side you have less grocery. Still have it but not as much.
Allot more drop and hook. And as stated before, swift has an insanely large freight base. I do not know if you can find many areas where they will not have a load near you and ready to go when you get empty.

It is really just a matter of personal choice though. Both are ok as far as training company's. Both have really changed training for the better in the past few years. I think that Swift has been more on this than Central, just by posts I have read.
Centrals new military thing is a BIG plus though. I wish they had that when I went to them for a refresher.
