I just did a refresher so I got my fill of double clutching..not a issue. Was just wondering if what I heard was true! I qualify as a exp. driver and not have to go out with a trainer. She just told me its all depends if I pass the road test or not...And that will not be a problem! Just wanted to make sure I knew all the rules to the game. With as many people going to swift...Is there a wait for trucks or trainers? I really dont want to sit thru a few days of orientation and get sent home until they find me a truck.

I'm hearing there is a wait for trucks, but I have no idea how long that will be. You may just luck out and get one right away. You just never know.

Thanks for the info! All my vehicles except the one I currently drive have been manual transmission. Do you think that would make it easier to get the hang of shifting the truck, or that there are bad habits I need to break?

To the OP...as far as a wait for truck out of Lancaster....you could get right into a truck you wish you would have had to wait for another! If you get my drift.
Been hearing some horror stories about the Lancaster shop and truck issues with repairs...then the "change truck offer" wasn't accepted because of the condition of the truck they offered to change into. -
My 2 cent for what its worth: On a road test they should have the driver, drive the way they normally do it. A road test is meant to judge a potential drivers skill set. Once you start instructing the testee how to drive you're defeating the purpose of giving the test. Because, they are naturally going to start to drive like a robot just to pass and get it over with. On the other hand, if you allow the person to drive normally you get a lot better grasp of their short falls, then they can be addressed and hopefully fixed before that driver hits the road.

the test is to make sure the driver knows how to do it the company way. if the policy is to double clutch, then they want to make sure you know how to double clutch.

I used to be the same, but then wizened up. Last two cars I had were not performance vehicles, just an SC2 and a Cavalier. I would always rev match in those to make the shifting smoother, first by the tach and then eventually you learn how to do it just from the sound the engine makes.
