Definitely appreciate the input. Not much for me to post at the moment. Will do my best to give my experience going forth. Just messing around at home and enjoying the off time for now.
Getting restless waiting till Monday. The Rochelle terminal got a new dm that will be starting on Monday, so they are starting me Monday too. Hope that doesn't make for a difficult situation. Just gotta keep my record clean till after Christmas and then I can look to new pastures. I made a bunch of dumb mistakes back in my rookie days that have bit me in the butt. Thankfully swift held on to me and helped me learn from those mistakes. Just hoping there will be a truck for me and I can get going right on Monday. That is all for now, gonna enjoy these lazy days. Get rested up so I'll be ready to turn and burn.
Well, it'll be different kind of experience. You'll trade your 6 stops, for 3 or 4 picks on the front end and one drop, a trailer washout and a pallet swap on the back end ... Each one taking 2 to 3 times longer than your Wal Mart stops.
Well I fly to Phoenix tomorrow to pick up my truck. Will be driving a 2020 International LT. Hopefully I'll have a load and be rolling by mid day tomorrow. Ready to rack up some miles and journal it on here to share the experience. Thanks for the input everyone.
Pick up at the yard to do a local delivery, then head down the road from that delivery to pick up to go to Denver. The fact that I am not on a 363 mile load to California with a dry van makes me happy. This international lt is nice. Going to look stupid this week figuring it out.
Alright been a little lazy and haven't updated this. I am still getting back into the OTR groove and really enjoy it. I have ran 3 loads and am on run 4 now. This is what I have seen. Load #1: Phoneniz, AZ to Phoenix, AZ Load #2: Phonenix, AZ to Denver, CO 871 Load #3: Greeley, CO to San Jose, CA 1288 Load #4: Watsonville, CA to Riverdale, UT (load had a total of 5 stops including the final) 894 Enjoying this so far. The only extreme unload I dealt with so far was at King Soopers in Denver. However they let me in early and I was out a hour before my appointment. Was able to get in a full rest break there and run a full night after picking up in Greeley. The new driver manager I have is awesome and way more active in helping me compared to my last. I have been pre-planned this whole time. Nice to be able to be prepared for that next load. I will do my best to keep this thread updated.
Was told I had appointments for the 5 stops but ran them any way. Got the product off my truck ready to reload in the AM for Houston, Texas (1542 miles). This leads to me getting a 3,043 mile pay check Next check won't be as good due to leveling out recaps, but overall I am enjoying this. Way to early to say much, however I hope this continues!
