i'm sorry to say i have never been road tested by swift, but what trucking companies did test me when i first started out, made sure it was a LONG test drive. back then, it was a 25 mile test run. they should put you through city streets, maybe county roads, and a bit of highway.

i'm sure a swift newbie (or experienced) driver will chime in........maybe NANA.......????

    You rang?

I'll be honest here and say that I don't know. It still seems to vary based on terminal and the driver's situation. Some drivers are getting a full road test and yet the other day we had a driver here on the forum who said he had no road test. Of course he had years and years of experience.

Let me see what I can find out.

    Right Turn.
    Left turn.
    park on hill.
    wait for tire repair.
    take off on hill.
    Shift badly... grind gears
    repeat ad nauseum......

Just teasing. Yes, it varies form one terminal to another or inspector to inspector.

It all varies from terminal to terminal. When I worked for swift (unfortunately) I did the road test at the MN terminal. All we did was hop in buckle up, go out of the terminal, merge onto the 4 lane US highway, go up one exit turn around and come back. But another terminal might take you on a road test like schneider did. Full pre trip, hooking up trailer, highway driving, city driving, right turns, left turns, and a couple different backing tests.

It's OK to jump the curb, just don't run over any pedestrians. If you do, don't leave any evidence.

You can rub against that power pole... Just don't knock it down. And if you happen to tear the lines down.... Don't stop for anything.

It is ok to back into another truck at the truck stop only if you leave a note on their windshield that reads "TAG YOUR IT"
