Because I am mty? I mean let's face it going doing weighting 32k pound and going down weighting 79 , it's 2 different world don't you think? (Not a Swift driver)
I've had other Swift drivers pass me going down a hill because that is the only way they can do it. They seem to think it is free speed and that it will shorten their trip by a huge amount. They might save a minute or two all day by speeding down hills, and I can't see how it is worth the risk.
Speed limit on I-70 in Colorado, all mtn. passes, reads Vehicles over 26,000 GVWR Speed limit: 35 mph or 45 mph. Doesn't matter if you're empty or loaded. Coworker was recently stopped outside the Eisenhower tunnel, bobtail, 50 in a 35. He tried to plead ignorance, the cop politely showed him on both his registration and the door sticker that his GCVWR are over 26,000 lbs. Let him off with a warning.
Someone somewhere is full of crap cause there is no way bobtail can weight 26 000 without a trl, unless of course it's some custom made truck! Bobtail truck weight somewhere around 18-20k not above 26!
Its amazing that swift is still in business: Safety Measurement System - Overview (U.S. DOT# 54283) They even have a dedicated page about them on a lawyers website lol! https://www.frg-law.com/carriers/swift-transportation/
Its not about how much it actually weighs, its about how much weight its registered for, that technical #### will get ya.
I don't see anything wrong with SMS, their % of problems quiet below average. I mean almost 15 000 trucks that's a lot! Of course some company who have only 20 trucks will have smaller problems simply cause of math
