I once was leaving a customer in Massachusetts and was on a really narrow road. Old lady in a car coming the other way. I stopped to let her pass. She starts to go by then stops, opens her window and shakes her finger at me and yells "You're too big!"
I answered in the only way I could. "You're not the first woman to tell me that ma'am!"FerrissWheel, Grijon, jammer910Z and 16 others Thank this. -
Let me clarify: the nav told me to turn right onto an unmarked street showing no issues, in fact, it showed the street as a straight line. About 75 feet in, it went downhill and turned left.. About 60 feet later, i saw a space that might have given a safe turnaround, but there were obstructions. I caused no damage other than tire tracks in some landscaping.
Having spoken to the wrecker op, the park workers, and the motorcycle officer that arrived, I was far from the first driver in that same situation in that location.Last edited: Nov 30, 2015

Was this a company NAV system? (surely they covered their end with disclaimers, but)
Does it give 'company" directions?
Am I correct assuming you would be "double liable" if an incident occurred while being off-route from the company routing?

Our nav system uses similar mapping as the RM that I use, but it 'sometimes' has better directions.
And no, it does not follow the fuel route or any other directions. It calculates the best route from where you are according to its own rules.
If the OP got a little off route and was being re-routed the problem can arise with any GPS system.
We also have a macro for written directions, which should be followed before any GPS.
If there are no written directions it is best to call the customer for the correct way in.
It sounds like the OP made an honest mistake and got in trouble. But I doubt a first offence would have resulted in termination, especially with no property damage.
Swift does understand people making a few mistakes. But make too many and you will be gone.jammer910Z, White_Knuckle_Newbie, HalpinUout and 1 other person Thank this.
