Swift - Starting the New Year training with Swift 1/7/13 - A long read...

Nothing like fake jewelry to make the day go a little smoother. I'm curious whether they try to sell the fake jewelry as "real" or whether they just cut to the chase and give the fake jewelry discount. I'm not a big jewelry guy so I may never truly know.

Good to hear the L.L.'s are getting some work. I would like to think she was hookin to start a non-profit back-to-work program for displaced Somali pirates since the increased security on tanker ships. Gives me more faith in the human condition. Or possibly she is a music teacher giving lessons to those deprived of proper instrument utililization and she forgot her clarinet at home?

 

Tuesday....

Finally heard from my student driver coordinator today. I called 4 times yesterday trying to reach her. I'm sure she had a lot to catch up on since she was sick all week last week. I was trying not to be too annoying but really just wanted to hear something even if it was hearing just to sit and wait a while longer.

The good news is that I should have a new mentor either later today or tomorrow morning. Sounds like the cpap issue is another speed bump on the highway to training with a mentor. Hope it doesn't cause too many problems. Going to check out of the King Oscar tomorrow morning regardless and relocate myself to the fake leather couch in the driver's lounge of my terminal until I go out. I took all my student courses and quizzes online yesterday and took a bunch more that were not on my "to do" list. My online driver training portfolio is already at 2 pages long so glad to knock that stuff out. Hope my mentor is cool. I'll find out soon enough.

Yes!!!! Finally heard from my mentor today. He sounds like a cool younger guy. Sounds like he (we) have an early delivery Thursday morning so he is picking me up from the terminal then. So I'll be here at the King Oscar tonight and tomorrow night and ride over to the terminal early Thursday to start my OTR training. I'm pretty excited as this has been a long time coming. Started this whole process about late August, early September of last year so I'm more than ready to get going.

I was changing my cell plan with Boost Mobile today and heard that it is only $10/month to be able to use the phone as an internet connection for my laptop. I'll need to update my phone tho since my current looks like something a 12 year old on a tight budget would carry. So I should be able to post from the road shortly after starting.

 

Spoke to my mentor tonight and we are to meet up tomorrow at the terminal at 12 noon. Can't wait to finally get out there. Going to get as much rest as possible tonight so I can be prepared for the unexpected.

I'll post up again on my OTR experience as soon as I am able. Not sure how I'm going to work the internet connection thing yet as my phone isn't a hotspot yet. That will change soon.
