I'm currently doing my time with my mentor at Swift. Was hoping to get opinions on which of the 4 brands that swift runs do you guys prefer. In case someone doesn't know, they run international, Volvo, freightliner, and kw.
    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Personally I think the Volvos make the best use of the room inside. Think of ikea and how they maximize space.
Zoltan1a, Eowyn and tscottme Thank this.

I've heard that repairs seem to take longer with volvos, presumably because of getting parts
Bean Jr. and tscottme Thank this.

I prefer the Cascadia, although I have never even been inside a KW.

Avoid the International. They are all made from similar components sourced from around the globe. International just seems to do a $h!TTIEr job of putting them together properly. I am currently driving a 2019 KW T680 with 600K on the clock. Manufactured in June 2018. Been in it since it had 325K..... Going on 2 years in my possession. I have had one "breakdown" in that time period. Cracked PLASTIC oil pan! One night in a Company Paid Hotel, plus $200.00 break down pay. One other occasion..... Bad DEF quality sensor. Stopped at KW in NLR, AR. down the road in less than 4 hrs.
    Sixela918 Thanks this.

T680 are slightly narrower on the inside, slightly less storage space and mirrors that stick out further, other than that not much different.
    Moosetek13 and Sixela918 Thank this.

I have not heard many good things about International and only drove one when going through school. The Freightliners are okay, but I only drove one a few times. I like KW, except for their autos. I heard they have been working on them. I haven’t driven a KW since 2017. It was a 680. It was a real smooth ride like driving a Cadillac, but the Eaton 10 trans was terrible.
I own a Volvo 780 and the space in the bunk is fantastic and the auto trans is much better than the Eaton. I feel the ride to be more “floaty,” I don’t know if that true for all Volvos but that’s the way mine feels. I team with my husband so the little bit of extra space is nice. The bottom bunk can be turned into a dinette. We did that for a short time, but sleeping upstairs is too bouncy. Plus if we were both sleeping there wasn’t a lot of room in the top bunk, but the bottom bunk has just enough extra space to make it comfortable without worrying about falling out.
I prefer KW because of the smooth ride, but the Volvo has a better transmission and more room. We did buy the Volvo used with a lot of miles on it. We haven’t had too many problems with breakdowns because we do regular maintenance.
When driving the KW it had the Bendix system in it and we had LOTS of problems with that. The company gave us new trucks before any real problems could occur with the KW’s itself, but we are no longer there.
    Pamela1990 and Sixela918 Thank this.
