I have been reading what to bring and what not to bring
but do they confiscate things and what things are prohibited?
I have gotten confused.. like meds do they go through your stuff and check your medicine
are there over the counter meds (besides cold and alcohol based stuff) that is not allowed
do I need a doctors note or something...
also some of the youtubes I have seen talk about security.. are knives or defensive things banned while training... do I wait till on my own? I dont know about you but the idea of riding with someone I dont know or being in places at night makes me a bit nervous (I am female security is something I worry about)?
Swift Training: does security go through your stuff ?

When I went through it in Memphis back in April 2015, Nobody went through anything I had. At least you are doing research on this prior to going. I didn't and had my .40 with me at the terminal concealed when after about the first hour of the schooling I was informed that they had a strict no weapons policy. I didn't get caught and it got left in the car during class time and in my bag at the hotel. If they would have found it they would have sent me home. Now on the other hand I had a small pocket knife with me with a 2 and 3/4 inch blade and during the drug screening when I took it out of my pocket and set it on the counter with the rest of my stuff, nothing was every said. Get in touch with your recruiter with any specific items you want to take with you but have concerns about. That's about the best advice I can give you. Which city are you heading to for your schooling?

corsicana tx

I'm assuming your going soon, word of caution. It's going to be hot, especially when your standing out on the backing yard waiting for your turn to practice. Make sure you bring sunscreen and whatever else you use to help protect you from the sun. And a poncho or rain suit, you don't go inside unless it's lightning. They may do things a little different there but I doubt it. Call your recruiter in the morning with your list of questionable items, that's what their there for.

In over 6 years with Swift there has never been a search of my belongings or truck, and that goes for scale houses as well.
As far as safety, it is not that bad out here.
When I have one of my daughters with me they are allowed to go alone into the truck stop if they wish to. They have never had a problem, and they would not do it if they felt unsafe - or if I did at a particular location.
I would not let them go alone at any truck stop in Atlanta, GA and maybe some others, but for the most part there is nothing to fear.

I hear ya, but it's just not any fun trying to learn how to back a truck after you've gotten soaking wet from head to toe. And the heat coming reflecting from the asphalt or concrete( whatever they have) makes it worse. It's aggravating enough having to wait on a bunch of people who have no idea what they are doing trying to tell each other what to do, add in the heat and attitudes from the people who can't grasp the idea they are there to learn and they get ill cause they keep messing up, it becomes a real headache, you'll figure out who to hang around and wait your turn with and who you need to just go to another truck and wait.

As far as your mess go...prescription meds, I would bring the prescription. Travel light, but carry a small bag with your important stuff in (birth certificates, social security card, meds, bank routing info for direct deposit...etc) it and keep it on you. Do not leave your important stuff with your luggage.
Luck in battle.FerrissWheel, KillingTime and ChancesRGood Thank this. -
You'll be fine with a pocket knife, just don't go Crocodile Dundee (A pocket knife is more a tool than anything else, you'll for sure want one.) The job isn't particularly dangerous if you use a little common sense and mind your business.

well I am opting for bring the knife but taking my car to the training in case they dont allow it and then I can put it up in my car... on a very happy note I just passed my permit tests... YAY... I will also be adding a uv protective light jacket to my bag along with the pocket knife
I am so excited I have my dot physical card too but have to wait for the official permit I only have the paper permit for now.
I am also relieved about the medicine it wont affect my driving but I just dont want to explain anything to anybody but a doctor... Thx for calming my nerves about this all of youSHOJim Thanks this.
