I will be attending swift driving academy. In Corsicana tx at the end of the month. Can anybody give me a rundown of what to expect. This is something I've been wanting to do for sometime now and I am really exited I finally get the chance.

Swift wouldn't be my first choice for a start in trucking, but it can be beneficial in getting a year experience, until you can make better money. Just remember not to take any chances and get into any accidents, so your not stuck there. The constant complaint I hear about Swift is they will dry drivers of loads, making it almost impossible to live. Hoping you'll quit, so they can fill your seat with the next trainee.Arizona..Fats Thanks this. -
Try this:
Click on "Forum" , above left
Click on "Trucking Company Questions-The inside scoop"
Click on the Swift thread.
What you'll find will be threads posted by drivers who have gone to Corsicana and others who actually drive for the company instead of comments by those who don't have the brain to come up with an original thought.inkeper Thanks this. -
I myself didn't go thru the academy
But i did go thru the training program i was assigned to the Memphis terminal the program is not that bad i just had a bad trainer. For the first 50 hours the trainer was not allowed to drive and after the 50 you will be driving as team. Make sure your trainer don't learn your driver code because you don't have to have id to purchase stuff in swift store they will give your driver code with and get stuff on u. Swift usually put u up in a pretty good hotel Memphis was. They will give u a paper saying all the stuff u will have to complete during training your trainer will bring u back to yard after u get all your hours to test out all i did was drive a couple blocks and back in a hole. -
I went through the Richmond Academy. I recommend it highly.
Swift Academy is run as a true school, combining classroom training and range training. To graduate, you DO need to know your stuff. We had a third of our class wash out over the three weeks. Each Academy is run a little differently, so "what happens when" will vary, but the curriculum is the same.
FYI, Swift Academy is PTDI accredited. http://ptdi.org/schools/schoolslist.aspx -
Swift was one of my choices but as I did my research I learned that they give a lot of down time. Therefor ull be sitting for hours before u get back on the road. So I I'm deciding on another com.

Hotel is scum. They actually busted a meth lab at the hotel next to it. Worse part is you have to pay it back. School is so so don't expect to much. I got really luck and got an awesome trainer. Its just impossible to learn everything you need to know in the time. As of right now I am running but it is the season. Ask me how I feel about swift after the first of the year.

be prepared for talking to 30 different dispatchers, load planners and driver managers that manage ever microscopic move you make.
