I have no doubt they have some great drivers........

That is why I orginally proposed coming up with some more "driver friendly" acroynms...... can you think of any?

Not right off hand, but I will be thinking about it. I know they have a bad rep and there is a reason for that, but they do have some good drivers as well. More driver friendly acroynms is a good idea. :yes2557:

Seems these are the most problematic for my other half. He's been soloing for almost 6 months and has settled in quite well - loves the driving part, not wild about the waiting-to-get-unloaded part, but absolutely hates the go-find-an-empty-trailer part. It's not unusual for Swift to send him 3-4 places only to find out the trailers are already spoken for or not usable. One had a door hanging from one hinge with Swift asking them if he could fix it. Another was in the middle of a Georgia cornfield...!

I was wondering how jp was doing, and I see kevinm has not been around in awhile. I finished with the mentor and waiting for a truck. Enjoying the break, and getting caught up on the sci-fi shows. Finding a good trailer can be a challenge at times, we have fixed small things but no doors hanging off their hinges. Some drivers do not seem to care and leave the problems for the next driver. The trainer I had would fix everything he could, lights,. mudflaps etc. He would climb up the door hinges to get on the roof to fix the top lights. Thats why it is good to carry around a few spare parts it might help to get you on the road again.

    Kevin,

You don't value your time or yourself very much do you? Surely you could find something that will pay you. Driving a dump truck local will net you A WHOLE LOT more money than going broke dealing with Swift. It's your decision, I hope you up for it!

He's good about fixing the little stuff, but I don't remember him telling me that his trainer ever had to fix anything.

He's been home for a couple of days after being out for a little over a month - also catching up on sci-fi

If your going to eat decent food it will cost you more than you make. Or do they pay for your food.

The way I reading it, pay would be ok in trucking if the companies pay for your meals on the road. Other wise your kinda screwed because dinners cost to much to eat at and most anything you take on a truck wouldn't be good for ya, and the good stuff would spoil.
