Yes, you are going off my post. Sadly, you chose to pick out a small matter out of the whole to use to attack me personally. Attack the issue, not the person.

Also, I did not put in the specifics of that instance or of the instance in Amarillo as I did not feel it was important enough to bore the readers with trivial minutiae. Have you ever been in a situation where you were screwed if you do and screwed if you don't? Again, this was an instance where my DM agreed with my assessment 100% and the person who caused the situation was sent to "significant re-education" while I received no reprimand from Swift.

Well, you may have a great education, high IQ, and past 30 years in the IT world. This is not that world, this is trucking. They are not the same. Learn this new field, get that chip off your shoulder and listen to those who are there. Learning is a every day thing, it is no different in trucking. You can make all the excuses you want, the bottom line is you are new and this is trucking. If you dont like it, and it is so wrong, then do us all a favor and find another profession. Otherewise suck it up and good luck.

I have been in situations before where either I was too sick to drive a truck or in the winter the road conditions were too unsafe to be going down and weather dispatchers tell me that get all down the road I told him thanks but no thanks I am one driving this truck not you I will say when it rolls and they have tried to threaten me Before but I don't even care what they say like I told you I am the captain of his truck any driver is the captain of that truck not a dispatcher

Bottom line, this is trucking. Love it or leave it. If the job requires sitting for a couple of hours before you start getting paid, like the contract says, then that is what you do. This is a different world then the IT world, if you want it the way you are used to then go back. Tired of listening to people changing career paths and expecting it to be the same as the one thay left.

Nothing wrong with Swift. Just lots of people crying about petty stuff. None of this stuff is accurate. You say the pay sucks? Try unemployment. Does it justify the type of work we do out here? No, but then, what type of work are we actually in? It's commission based. You should've known that!

I have pretty small paychecks myself. I pay for Medical/Vision/Dental coverage for my wife & I. Supplemental life insurance, supplemental catastrophic medical. I have a small child support payment, student (CDL Academy) obligation, I pay $30 a month for the Rider program (my Wife likes to ride along when she can) and then the normal taxes. I have also had the misfortune of having my truck in the shop twice for 4-days each. While I would certainly love to get more miles and longer loads, I CAN NOT blame Swift. My gross pay is what it is...It is hard to make it on my NET income. I never turn down ANY load for reasons other than time (HOS or On-Time). I am told that these past few months have been the "slow" time of the year. I am looking forward to freight picking up. I guess I'm just trying to say that if someone dislikes what they are getting paid for what they do....why not just go and get another job elsewhere? Swift has paid me exactly what they promised they would when I took this job. I have good benefits and so far, enjoy my job. I am still learning this trade and Swift has done okay by me so far....:mwink:

I'm NOT a swift fan , actually I'm as far from one as you can get and still live in the continental
    United States .
    With that being said -

Swift asking anyone to run illegal is beyond imagination.
Really , with Qcoms , the DOT and the ability to re-power loads
why would they take a chance , or find it necessary to ?

    Kusanagi and MikeCammer Thank this.
