I drove with swift months ago, I got a letter from a state agency claimed that I have to pay for my kids health insuracnce , according to medical health code-some federal laws- because of swift providing health insurance, I called up and cleared out with that state agency that I didn`t have to pay for that because it was over 5 % of my monthly income, and my kids are eligable for the state health insurance.
months ago, swifts started to substracted the insurance from my paycheck. I called up the state agency again , they said Swift had no right to do that, so I tried to call the headquater of Swift, got leading to the phone number of the kitchen of the headquater building, it showed that they didn`t want to deal with it. or we shouldn`t make any complaint .
I am still frighting for the money they substracted from my paychecks.

I think you are trying to judge the poster for not paying for insurance for his kids. At first glance you might have a case but because you have no idea what all they might be doing for their kids it might the conclusion could be right or wrong.

Yea, which is why I decided not to say anything after all. If there was an edit or delete ability, I would have done so later. I was in a rather prickly mood that day I think. ;)

If a trucker went to Swift driving school, has been OTR for a year, what's the ramifications of his quitting right now? What about the charges for the driving school? Will they try to stick it to him after he quits and if so, how will they do it?

What does your contract say, and if it says 1 year, go a little longer just to be safe.

The contract says that you drive one year, that they take the driving training fee out of the paycheck and after the year is up, they give the training fee back.

No fee has been taken out of the paycheck at all.

Do you think the guy is safe leaving right now since they didn't take out the fee and it's a wash?

He wants to drive the truck back up to Denver terminal tomorrow and hand in the keys.

What's the market for drivers like there in Pueblo, cowboy tech?

Commercial truck driving may not be rocket science, but it does demand incredible attention to detail, accurate and timely paperwork, and physical skills to maneuver these large trucks in some impossible situations.
I could not be a truck driver because it seems very stressful. No, not cruising down the highway, but driving and living within the boundaries of the law and the demands of your employer; the restrictions on where and when and what to eat; lack of exercise; etc.

After 13 months the loan is paid back in full. If he stayed 13 more months he will get all the money back.

The biggest problem with new drivers, is they think the grass is always greener on the other side.. I guess most do not bother to read the news to see how bad the economy really is.. Not to mention how many trucking companies are shutting down. If you have a job, and are doing ok, then don't quit, stick it out until the economy and the industry picks up again..

    desert_son and lost-in-montana Thank this.
